I am trying to attach some log files to a sr from a host I have checked the permissions and they are all in place but am getting the error below

I deployed a Skyline appliance last week and got it connected to my vCenter 6.5 appliance. The collector shows green for all statuses but Skyline advisor shows 0 VCs collected, 0 hosts, 0 VM's. I have configured a custom role with read-only plus the 4 global permissions that VMware says are needed for Log Assist, but Log Assist also has no inventory to select. I haven't found anything in VMware KB or on the web for similar issues.
Where do you go to remove stale Collectors? We had to deploy a new collector with a new name. Now we have two and only one is valid.

I was patching some host with esxi 5.5 to the latest patches. All my 8 hosts were upgraded fine except one. I got an Installation Error related to altbootbank. I also did some initial troubleshooting by automatically repairing the /altbootbank by using dosfsck -a -w /dev/disks/mpx.vmhba32:C0:T0:L0:5 (which is my altbootbank partition). The repair halts and states Connection timed out error. Can someone help me in resolving the issue?

After having upgraded to VMware Workstation 15 on my Windows 10x64 machine, each of my VMs shows a black flicker from time to time (once every 10 minutes or so).
This disturbance can be reproduced easily:
Simply start a VM with a Windows 10x64 OS installed and wait for about 10 seconds after having signed in to the guest OS. Then the first black flicker will occur:
After having opened a support ticket I'm having long discussions with VMware Support. They don't seem to be able to reproduce this issue.
So I'm asking here: Can anyone reproduce this issue?
When I try to copy files or folder with copy/paste from my local Windows 10 VM to a Windows 10 (x64) 1809 guest the VM will hang intermittently during the copy.

If I try to exit VMware Workstation I get an error message that the VM is busy:
The only thing left I can do is reboot the host but after that the VM is boots up with a black screen and is unusable.
The host is running 1809 insider preview build 18305
I tested both WS14 (14.1.5) and 15 and both show the same behaviour.
I installed Player5.0.2 on Windows 7 and, and then installed Windows Server 2012 with the gui. All that went just fine. The server can access the host hard drives; the network icon says internet access. Network sharing says internet access on the Server. On the Host, also, the Network and Sharing information says Internet access. On the VM Server 2012 I can ping sites but when the browser (both IE and Firefox) attempt to resolve a URL I get connection times out. I can ping both by url and IP.
Any help is appreciated. I'm a bit of a novice at this, as is probably obvious.

This is an install of a fresh lab and fresh deployment of vCenter Appliance 6.7 with ESXi 6.7.
All machines have internet connectivity.
My domain controller is also the DNS server and DNS works fine forward and reverse/PTR.
Each ESXi host is time sync'd to the IP for pool.ntp.org [107.155.79.108]
The esxi hosts can ping the the time server...
I configured my Domain controller to sync time with the below commands...
w32tm /config /manualpeerlist:pool.ntp.org /syncfromflags:MANUAL
Stop-Service w32time
Start-Service w32time
The DC sync's fine....
The server I am using to deploy the virt appliance is also sync'd to with the same above method.
Below are my setting when deploying the virtual appliance...
All those settings gets me past the first step to deploy the virtual appliance to my esxi server....
Here are the virtual appliance network, SSO and ntp settings....
I also attached the logs from my 7th attempt.......lol

I'm writing a script that'll pull all of the snapshots which are 7 days or older from our VMs using Get-Snapshot. I am able to get everything I need except for who created the snapshot. How can I determine which user created it?

Hi. We have potentially hit the known bug for NSX controller v6.3.5 and high cpu.
We have Vrealize Network Insight, and have turned off Controller polling.
We also followed this TID.

We dont see really any log files, yet still after the Controller is started within about 10min there are about 15 logrotate process which max out all 4cpus. Eventually the controller disconnects from the cluster.
Anyone know what else to try? I had a very good VMware tech who we spent a good hour going through it all, and pretty mjuch the conclusion was upgrade off of v6.3.5
Odd it is only happening to 1 controller though. I was told we cant really delete just 1 controller, we need to delete all 3 and re-create. I am just curious why.

We recently rebooted our VCenter server and following reboot, we cannot get the web interface to load. I am fairly new to administering VCenter and am at a bit of a loss as to what we should try. When trying to load the web interface, we get the following error in the web browser:
Where do I start?
I guess many out there having the same issue that you can ping but not web access to a VMware workstation.
The basic infrastructure: windows 10 host, VMware w/s 15 with a guest Linux RH VDI. The web application is running on this VDI where I can ping to it from the host Windows 10 but can not open the website (can't be reached). I have tried both NAT and Bridged connection, but no luck.
Please share the solution with you have one.

I haven't migrated anything, just started fresh. How do I resolve this? I'm planning on installing Skyline for my customers, but I don't want it to work this badly for them.

Hi. I think I know the answer but just wanted some confirmation. Can SRM work without ELM (Enhanced Link Mode)? I believe ELM just provides the nice single-pane-of-glass UI in vCenter, but I don't believe it's a requirement at all for SRM and/or vSphere Replication? My setup will be SRM 8.1 running on vCenter 6.0U3 (external PSC) at site 1 and SRM 8.1 running on vCenter 6.7U1 (embedded PSC) at site 2.

I'm a bit of a VMWare noob and I've taken over responsibility for some struggling, out-of-warranty, sadly underpowered ESX servers and trying to learn as much as I can. I'm an IT professional and have been for 20 years so I'm not a TOTAL noob, just not really familiar with vcenter and none of the troubleshooting I can find in the KB's/etc is helping me.
First to give a complete picture of my situation - the first symptom of my problems was that suddenly, although nothing had changed to my knowledge, the vsphere client was suddenly unable to log into the vcenter using my usual administrator password. I could (and can still) log into each individual ESX host as root.
I also found that http://(address of vcenter) was failing with the seemingly common error:
503 Service Unavailable (Failed to connect to endpoint: [N7Vmacore4Http20NamedPipeServiceSpecE:0x000055ed2fdb3820] _serverNamespace = / action = Allow _pipeName =/var/run/vmware/vpxd-webserver-pipe)
So when I went to start troubleshooting this upon following the KB articles I noticed that I cannot log in to the vcenter as root. I don't know the password, and I suspect it's expired anyway..
So what I did was connect using the vSphere client to the ESX host which the vcenter itself runs on. For purposes of this discussion we'll say the vcenter runs on 192.168.0.10 and the host is 192.168.0.11. I connected to .11 using the vsphere client and from there I could access the console of the vcenter VM itself.
I was able to restart the machine, and get into the GRUB bootloader which I had the password for, add the init=/bin/bash and unlock/reset the root password.
At this time I also discovered the filesystem was full due to a bunch of .bz2 files in /var/log. I cleaned up about 5G of those old files by deleting them while I was at it. Verified there is now space on the machine in df/du command output.
Rebooted the machine and it boots up to the console screen where it asks me to push F2 to "customize my system" or F12 to restart.
I press F2, and try to log in as root, using the password I just set moments ago, and it fails. Incorrect user/password. Not sure it matters but I should note it takes awhile to fail - it's not instant, but maybe 20 seconds go by before it fails me.
The only thing I can apparently do is get back to the GRUB loader and add init=/bin/bash and get back into single user but I cannot get the darn thing to accept my root password after hitting F2.
Am I doing something wrong? Where should I look to troubleshoot?
I have removed a vsphere host , but its local datastorage still listed in vcenter, showing inactive status,
when I want to remove it,The Options are grayed, how do I remove it?
