VM sleeps (?) when host is locked

Hello and good day to everyone.

 

I recently updated to VMWare Workstation 15.5.6 and encountered a problem I haven't seen before.

I have a guest VM with Windows 8 x64. And it does some heavy computing loading CPU (sometimes up to 100%). But when my host gets locked, doesn't matter how, screensaver kicks in after timeout or I lock it with Windows+L, VM with guest seemingly goes to sleep. According to the fan spinning CPU load drops to zero and when I unlock host (even after several hours) the progress in guest is exactly the same when the host was locked. In other words, when host is locked, guest in VM does nothing. I'm not sure about other operations, only CPU-intensive stuff goes to sleep or it sleeps completely. And it happens on different hosts: Windows 7 x64, Windows 8.1 x64, Windows 10 x64, desktops and notebooks.

 

Screensaver timeout is set to 3 minutes, disabling it becomes a nightmare with a child running around and messing with my PC if I forget to lock it. But when it gets locked, all calculations are stopped and guest becomes useless. Is it a bug or a feature? Maybe I'm missing something? But it's really a pain. Any solution?

Remove Datastores in vSphere 6.7

Hello,

 

I'm about to retire an old storage system. All the datastores are evacuated, storage-clusters removed. According to the best-practices, if you want to use powershell, you should use the "Detach-Datastore" commandlet. But there is no such commandlet in the latest PowerCLI anymore. There also is no "unmount-datasore". I still asume you have to detach the LUNs before unpersenting them to avoid APD issues, but I don't want to do this all by hand as there are quite a lot LUNs and paths.

Any idea?

Dears,

 

I search everywhere for this without finding any answers,

 

We have Micro Focus Service Manager (Old Name: HP Service Manager) and we have VRealize Orchestrator 8.1 and we are unable to integrate the two solutions to automate MFSM requests to VRO workflows.

 

We found some old integration plugins from 2014 but the link in VMWare Solutions Exchange is giving 404 page..

 

 

Please Help us on this...

vCenter 7 Fault Tolerance performance issues

I enabled fault tolerance in vCenter 7 and noticed that the ping reply when fault tolerance is enabled on the VM goes from 1ms to about 10-30ms.  A 5GB file copy to the VM goes from 100MB/s without FT then 10MB/s with FT.  Full disclosure that I am using a 1Gb dedicated link not 10Gb, however I have read multiple posts that people with 10Gb links are having the same issues.  I have zero traffic running across the network since this is a test lab POC, so no contention here.  Are there any performance tweaks or configuration recommendations that can be made other than having fault tolerance logging on its own dedicated NIC (with vMotion that is), or is this as good as it gets?  Anyone able to run FT on a 10Gb link and have the same (or close to the same) ping response times and file transfer speeds?  Thanks

Extracting Windows Drivers

I'm trying to create a Windows 2019 ISO with vmxnet3 and pvscsi drivers pre-installed. Problem is that I can't find where to get the drivers separate from VMTools. And the instructions for running setup /a to extract the drivers isn't working.

Does anyone else have a pointer of where to get standalone drivers?

Не видит SSD диск

Ребят, всем привет.

Такая проблема. Пытаюсь подключить usb 3.0 внешний ссд (который находится в ssd боксе)  по usb 3.0, но не получается, появляется это окно, где нужно выбрать, на виртуалке его запустить или на хосте, я выбираю виртуалку, происходит характерный звук подключения, но он не появляется.. Смешно то, что флешки подключаются без проблем. тоже usb 3.0

По протоколу usb 2.0 подключать пробовал - не помогло.

Unable to add or edit applications.

Unable to add/edit applications. We upgraded WS1 from 1907 to 20.1.0.25 (2001) yesterday. Now getting an error while adding or editing an application assignment

"Save Failed An error has occurred. This error has automatically been saved for further analysis. Please contact technical support."

It does not matter whether the application is a public or VPP. Has anyone experienced this ?

'Save Failed' trying to look up any public app through Workspace One UEM.

I've always easily installed public free apps by going into AirWatch/WOU and going to Apps and Books - Public - Add Application.  I choose Apple IOS, type in some or all of the app name and hit Next and it always searches.  Now it just says 'Save Failed' at the top.   I've tried 2 machines and different browsers.  Is this a known issue?

Create RAID 1 to deploy vCenter server

I have 2 HP DL360 G10 servers installed vSphere ESXi that will be vSphere HA.

Then there is a HP DL20 G10 Server will be the vCenter server. I want to create a RAID 1 with two 1TB HDDs in the server and install ESXi on it before deploy vcenter.

However I found that the server's smart array controller uses software RAID. VMware doesn't support software RAID.

 

Is there any solution that allow me to create RAID 1 HDD compatible with ESXi?

Or any other way to make two copies in two HDD at the same time?

mDNS on guest OS (OBS and NDI)

My host OS is running Ubuntu 20.04 and I am using Workstation 15.5.6 build-16341506

 

My network and VM topology is as follows:

  1. Physical desktop running Ubuntu 20.04 with VMware Workstation.
    1. Guest VM of Ubuntu 20.04
    2. Guest VM of Windows 10 Pro
  2. Physical laptop running Windows 10 Pro
  3. Physical streaming server (NUC) running Windows 10 Pro

 

I use my streaming PC as a central point to connect my webcam and microphone for all of my streams. It is running OBS-Studio with the NDI plugin so that I can stream my webcam and mic over my network to multiple PC's.

All of the systems (physical and virtual) are running OBS-Studio using the NDI plugin to try and find my NDI stream. Currently, my physical desktop and my physical laptop are able to see the NDI stream without any issues. I am running a flat network for this setup, which means all of the PC's in question on are the same VLAN, I am not using QoS or any other switch configs on this subnet. All of the systems are on the same subnet, and all systems are able to see each other by IP and by other network services (SSH, FileShares, ICMP, etc...)

 

The problem that I am having is none of my guest VM's in VMware Workstation are able to see the NDI stream. Digging a little further I found that NDI uses mDNS to identify itself to the different clients. But from what I can tell the multicast packets are not reaching my guest VM's. I have tried both the Bridged Network Adapter and the NAT Network Adapter, and both have the same issue. I have tried multiple guest OS's (Linux, Unix and Windows), and none of them are able to see the multicast packets.

 

I installed Wireshark on my physical desktop and my physical laptop and I am able to see the multicast traffic. But when I run Wireshark on any of the guest VM's, I am unable to see any of the multicast traffic.

 

I have not looked at using an mDNS gateway as of yet.

I have not tried using my physical desktop as the NDI source yet either. But I will probably try to configure something for a quick test tomorrow to see if the guest VM's can see multicast messages sent from the guest.

 

Is there a way to enable multicast in VMware Workstation? Or is there a way to get this working?

check in server appliance, the service of vcenter server cannot start and vmware vcenter --services is keeping starting for long time after manually start.

数字のみのアカウント名の場合、認証エラーでログインができない。

現在、検証ライセンスにてVMhorizonの検証を実施しており

数字以外の文字列が含まれているアカウントに関しては問題無く接続が可能ですが

数字のみのアカウント名を使用して＜ドメイン名＞\＜アカウント名＞でログインをすると認証エラーが発生してログインができません。

ただし、数字のみのアカウント名でも＜アカウント名＞@＜ドメイン名＞の場合は接続ができます。

もしご存知の方がいらっしゃいましたらご教示いただけませんでしょうか。

 

例）

ドメイン名\ABC01 -> 接続可能

ドメイン名\00001 -> 接続不可

00001@ドメイン名 -> 接続可能

 

<環境>

VMware Horizon 7.12

Windows Server 2016のActive Directoryを使用

VCSA 6.5 to 6.7 Upgrade failing -

Hi All,

I am not that experienced in VMware but I am currently having an issue when attempting to upgrade my current VCSA 6.5 U2b (Build 8815520) to VCSA 6.7 Update 3 (Build 14367737).

Just got to the Pre-Upgrade checks on the new appliance when it fails with a Single Sign-On error and Points me to a KB 2121701.

The KB is for VCenter 6.0 and I have searched around and attempted to update the SSL Trust anchors but I feel like i am going around in circles.

Any suggestions would be appreciated to try and resolve otherwise I might jsut have to burn current VCSA and set this 6.7 as new.

WSO UEM 2005 issues with on-prem?

I'm getting ready to upgrade from 1907 and was wondering if anyone has upgraded to to 2005 on-prem.  If you have upgraded, did you experience any issues. 

 

I'm upgrading to get to the latest version and also resolve an issue where the VMWare Tunnel (via the UAG) will lose it credentials every 6 months and stop working.  Also, there was an issue where the tunnel settings page wouldn't load because of a similar issue.

 

I could go to 2001 but will be in the same boat soon enough where I need to upgrade.

 

Any feedback is appreciated.

いつもお世話になっております。

 

ESXi 6.7か7上にWindowsServerベースの仮想ファイルサーバを構築しようと思っております。

前提として共有ストレージに必要分の空き容量があることは当然なのですが、

仮想マシン自身の限界容量というものはございますでしょうか？(共有ストレージに空きはあっても、ファイルを保存できません、という値)

VMFS-5 データストアでサポートされる最大 VMDK サイズは 62 TB とドキュメントでありましたが、この値がそうでしょうか？
