Error when connecting to the ESXi Web interface

$

Anyone know how to fix this issue?  It started happening seemingly at random.  I've tried rebooting the host and clearing my browser cache, along with using a variety of other browsers.

The error reads

Unhandled Exception

Unfortunately, we hit an error that we weren't expecting.

The client may continue working, but at this point, we recommend refreshing your browser and submitting a bug report.

And the more info button reveals

Black screen when connecting through PCoIP

I am getting black screen when I connect to vm's from Horizon client. It does not disconnect or give me any message but just black screen and stays like that until I manually disconnect .

View connection server 7.3.2, Server 2008 R2

View agent 7.3.2 on the vm's

Horizon client 4.5.0

VM's have Windows 7 installed

If I install View agent 5.3.7 on the vm, I am able to connect even though the connection server is 7.3.2

The ports are all correct and configured.

I am connecting through PCoIP although I can connect through RDP

The monitors and the video memory settings are correct.

Has anyone faced this problem?

I am not sure what to look for to fix this.

Thank you in advance and appreciate it.

secondary nsx manager unavailable from vCenter after a disk failure in the secondary SDDC

We had a disk failure in our 2nd SDDC which caused errors with vSAN and numerous VM instances.

After the vSAN had been restored, the secondary nsx Manager no longer showed from vCenter.  FYI, we have a stretched nsx environment across two SDDC.

The secondary nsx manager is up and have reachability to the primary nsx manager as well as to the vCenters, and I tried to add the 2ndary nsx manager again, but it failed because the 2nd nsx manager already exists.

What will be the best way to restore the 2ndary NSX Manager?

vSphere 6.0 U3 Custom Certificates instalation error: Previous Machine_SSL_CERT Subject alternative name does not match new Machine_SSL_Certificate Subject alternative name

We have setup a testing environment to perform an upgrade from vSphere 5.5 to 6.0 U3

Have updated one vcenter from 5.5 to 6.0 U3 and try to test custom certificates. All infrastructure servers are installed on Windows 2008 R2 Standard (Vcenter, AD/CA, SQL)

Tried to follow this article Replacing a vSphere 6.x Machine SSL certificate with a Custom Certificate Authority Signed Certificate (2112277) | VMwar…

We have created certificates template using this article as guide Creating a Microsoft Certificate Authority Template for SSL certificate creation in vSphere 6.0 (2112009) | VMware KB

Creating a new template for vSphere 6.0 to use for Machine SSL and Solution User certificates

Connecting to the CA server, you will be generating the certificates from through an RDP session.

Click Start > Run, type certtmpl.msc, and click OK.

In the Certificate Template Console, under Template Display Name, right-click Web Server and click Duplicate Template.

In the Duplicate Template window, select Windows Server 2003 Enterprise for backward compatibility.

Note: If you have an encryption level higher than SHA1, select Windows Server 2008 Enterprise.

    Click the General tab.

In the Template display name field, enter vSphere 6.0 as the name of the new template.

    Click the Extensions tab.

Select Application Policies and click Edit.

Select Server Authentication and click Remove, then OK.

Note: If Client Authentication exists, remove this from Application Policies as well.

Select Key Usage and click Edit.

Select the Signature is proof of origin (nonrepudiation) option. Leave all other options as default.

    Click OK.

    Click the Subject Name tab.

Ensure that the Supply in the request option is selected.

Click OK to save the template.

Proceed to Adding a new template to certificate templates section in the article to make the newly created certificate template available.

On Vcenter server 6.0U3   (Embeded PSC) we run the certificat manager tool to generate CRS records, we have used option 1 and 5 as our goal is to use custom certificates.

We followed this article to get certificates from Microsoft CA  Obtaining vSphere certificates from a Microsoft Certificate Authority (2112014) | VMware KB

Note: this is a simple lab environment so there is no intermediate CA only the root one on  Windows 2008R2

We copied certificates to the new vcenter and tried to import Machine SSL certificate and got the above error

Previous Machine_SSL_CERT Subject alternative name does not match new Machine_SSL_Certificate Subject alternative name

We tried to use san:dns=fqdn..... using attributes box from CA to specify a unique SAN but got same error

Have attached the certtool.cfg file and certificate manager log.  Any help would be appreciated

Horizon 7.4 datastore refresh

When I present a new datastore to ESXi hosts within vCenter 6.5 Horizon View 7.4 does not see it unless I restart Horizon services or add/remove vCenter from View.  Both are lame solutions.  How do I force View to refresh vCenter to see the new datastore(s)?

VMWare 5.5 vMotion configuration issues

$

Hi all,

I was trying to configure vMotion properly in my new environment and cant seem to get it right, or working for that matter.

I have 3 hosts, each are using 2 x fibre channels (lets call them Fibre A and Fibre B) and 1 x copper port. I have a DVSwitch and various port groups in there; management, iSCSI A, iSCSI B and vMotion all with correct vLans assigned.

I created a vmkernel adapter for vMotion for each host (ticked vMotion box), which is uplinking to Fibre A only. Fibre B and copper are not being used for this.

However, vMotion does not work! I cannot do live migrations. So I Googled through and came across an article saying I'd have to create additional TCP/IP stack for vMotion.

So I created it via CLI  esxcli network ip netstack add -N="vMotion"

Then I created new vmkernel adapter and select the new stack and as soon as I do that, all the available options become greyed out, thus vMotion still does not work.

What am I missing here? Any ideas?

Write latency and network errors

$

I'm trying to troubleshoot a write performance issue and noticed that there is VSCSI write latency.  We have a 4 node cluster with dual 10GB links on brocade vdx switches.  The only thing I noticed is that there are some out of order rx errors in vsan observer during the time of the latency. Has anyone seen this issue before?  I'm attaching a screen shot from observer.

How to change how touch input is handled? (Windows 7 client on a windows 10 surface pro host)

$

Hello,

I am running  a Windows 7 image on VMware Workstation Player 14, on a windows 10 surface pro host machine.
The image contains a program that suggests pretty much only VMWare, Officelite by KUKA.

The program has some / buttons that the user needs to click. There are currently 2 problems:
a) If the user doesn't click exactly on a button but nearby, the application gets re-positioned, as if a drag and drop occurred.

b) When a user wants to hold one of the buttons to keep increasing/decreasing its values, he needs to double tap and hold instead of the expected behavior (hold pressed).

I don't know what is causing problem a), but I have disabled "press and hold to right click" on windows 10, and still press and hold doesn't work in the application.

I have 2 approaches to solving this:
1) either change the mouse behavior in general

2) Write an application that intercepts and changes the way input is handled

Any ideas on what to do?

Considering the 2) approach:
I Wrote a WPF c# application that is always on top and when it recognizes touch input (touch down/pressed/up) it tries to bring VMWare to foreground and send a mouse_event to that, but the mouse click is not registering. Also tried putting the application within VMWare, but stuff like System.Timers.timer and System.threading.Thread are not running.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

VMWare 5.5 vSphere HA has no errors or warnings but does not work, neither does management redundancy.

$

Hi all,

I have 3 hosts running ESXi 5.5. I manage these hosts from a vCenter server.

I have created a cluster out of these hosts and enabled HA on the cluster. There are no error messages or no warnings. The vSphere HA summary page of the cluster shows:

In addition to this, I have management network redundancy on each host via VDSwitch. There is portgroup called mgmt, which is for management network, this portgroup is connected to 3 NIC uplinks (Fibre A, Fibre B and Copper) for redundancy. Another portgroup I have is vMotion. Both mgmt and vMotion portgroups have correct vLans:

Now I have found two problems:

1. When I disabled the port connected to vmnic5Uplink from the the Cisco switch, the host goes down; meaning there is no management network redundancy although I am using all 3 available NICs for management traffic. Nowhere in vSphere does it mention there is a problem with management redundancy or any warnings regarding that. Only when I disabled ports connected to any of the 3 uplinks, the host goes entirely down (Not responding).

2. When the host goes down, HA does not work. HA tries to migrate VMs residing in the affected host but HA migration fails. Before the host becomes "not responding" stage, there is this error:

After about 10 seconds of this error message, it says

I cannot figure out why this is happening. Anyone has any ideas from looking at the above?

Thanks

UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY error

Went to log into a clients NSX Manager today to start Micro-Seg, and it had an "Unexpected Inconsistency: run fsck Manually" error!  That doesn't sound good.  I have found a solution on other blogs about boot the NSX Manager to an UBUNTU iso, and cleaning up the filesystem using the SUDO....command.

I have created a ticket with tech support about this.

I wanted to get your thoughts as well.  Any special tricks out there?

AND NO!  There are no backups!!!  I tried but they didn't want to create a backup solution at that time.  Hopefully they will now.

Thanks for your help!

Hi

We just upgraded to vCenter 6.5. If we log into the Web client (not UI5)  and we try to export a OVA we get "This version of vCenter Server does not support Export OVF Template using this version of vSphere Web Client. To Export OVF Template, login with version 6.5.0.0 of vSphere Web Client."
