I am in major need of Snow Leopard Server. I have a retail copy of Client 10.6.8, which does me no good given it cannot be virtualized. Apple says that they do NOT still carry it, and had no suggestions of where to look. Does anyone know of a place I can still purchase it or download it? Thanks!

I just yesterday updated Fusion from 6.x to 8.1, and Unity mode does not work properly on either of my virtual machines. When I switch to Unity, all open Windows windows are just displayed as black rectangles where the windows should be. If I mouse over them, the mouse repeatedly blinks on and off. I can move the black rectangles but they just stay black rectangles. The VM Library window also just shows two black rectangles rather than thumbnails of each display.

I have reinstalled VMWare tools on both machines, nothing changes. I haven't tried disconnecting my secondary monitor yet, but did change it so they mirrored rather than extended, and that did not help. Any ideas...?

Every time I try to boot up my virtual machine (OSX Yosemite) I get an error message :

VMware Player unrecoverable error: (vcpu-0)

The vcenter is in version 6.0.0 Update 2 build 3634794.

このESXiホスト上で、NTPサーバを指定し、NTPを起動すれば、
時刻同期はされると思うのですが、
時刻ずれが20分と大きい為、NTPを起動し、正常に同期されるか懸念しております。

また、ESXiホスト上の時刻が突然戻ることでの、仮想マシンの影響度も懸念しております。

ご意見頂けますでしょうか。

Ever since I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, I have been unable to connect USB devices to my VMWare machines. The USB device icons display correctly in the status bar, and when I click "Connect (Disconnect from Host)," it adds the green dot as expected to show it's connected; and the device disappears from my host system. But it doesn't show up on the target; neither in Explorer nor in Device Manager. A while later, the notice pops up that the device failed to connect and the green dot disappears.

Things I have tried:

• Different USB ports (both USB 2 and USB 3)
• Different USB drives, including thumb drives, SD card reader (I think) and my Windows phone
• Windows 10 and Windows 7 target VMs
• Re-installing VMWare
• Creating a new VM from scratch (Windows 10)
• Probably more stuff that I can't remember, since it's been broken for a while.

Interesting problem taxing me, and appreciate community input.

We are utilizing the above Topaz Signature pad model, in a Horizon VDI, utilizing PCoIP and Linked clones, to mostly thin client devices.

The Topaz device in question has an integrated "USB to Serial" converter, where it builds its own COM9 port for all communication with the device.

Seemingly randomly, these devices will lose connection with the View session.  You can see that the hardware (indicates) it has physically lost contact with the vmware horizon server, and then if unplugged, and replugged, see when that communication resumes.  It doesn't always resume cleanly though, and often, the VDI session has to be cycled to work with the device properly, again.  You'll see it in the log, re-enumerate from 0x70 to 0x80.

Doing some reading, I've eliminated a suspicion that it might be pulling too much power, as it is USB powered, and with settings, have metered it down to only using .19 AMPS steady - which is nothing, really.

I have also seen where horizon uses port 32111 for the USB passthrough on horizon, and that a QOS rule in place can help with hiccups.  We aren't seeing the issue with ANY other USB device, just these Topaz USB to COM signature pad devices.

I have suggested to this customer, implementing the 32111 QOS rule, and they don't want to prioritize the traffic.

Appreciate any ideas or guidance.  I don't have much visibility of the horizon environment, and can only offer suggestion as it's not one we manage.  The problem is sparatic at best, with the only cataylst seemingly being that it occurs more frequently when a VDI has been left for a lunch break - and even then, not with consistency.

I have a current vcenter 5.5 installation with two vmware 5.5 hosts.  I am doing away with one of the 5.5 hosts, with one windows server vm on it, and replacing it with a 6.0 host.  I'm planning on moving(or copying)the vm from the 5.5 host to the 6.0 host.  Will i also need to upgrade vcenter from 5.5 to 6.0?  Or will vcenter 5.5 operate successfully with a 6.0 host? 

I purchased the VMware for the Mac yesterday.  The install was a bugger.  I could not take the installation from my windows 8 machine (windows was an OEM version) and I ended up with an XP version.  It will not see the internet. It does see the connections, but not in IE.  After some reading I think VMNetconfig.exe would solve the problem, but I do not have this in the installation.  I think the internet is a bridging problem.

How can I get internet access from the Virtual machine??

Hi folks, a quick question if I may.

I have fusion installed on my mac, and a Win7 vm setup.  I don't have this set to run at startup, so there are no Fusion services showing in Activity Monitor, there is a VMWare Fusion Start Menu.

I have the vm setup to use a chunk of memory and 2 cpu cores, but when does VMWare take these resources, and when does it release them?  Does this startup service reserve anything?

Reason for asking, I don't have many things set to run at startup, and those that do are pretty small, but I have a large chunk of memory gone before starting up a vm.  I can watch Activity and see a lump of memory taken when I start the vm, and released when I stop it, but it's not the amount I have chosen in the settings - Does Fusion reserve all the memory in one go, or as needed?  And the same kind of question with the cores, I can't find a way to monitor the cores taken, certainly using the limited Activity Monitor.

The information in the FAQ's and online resources about this kind of thing is somewhat lacking.

Any help or information on this subject would be very much appreciated, especially as I may need several more vm's soon, and will need to manage the numbers pretty closely.

Trying to figure out best setting for our environment.  Currently set IP hash, but Physical NIC Load seems like a better choice.  Issue is, documentation states that IP Hash is better for "larger environments", whereas NIC Load is better for "smaller environments".  How do I determine where my environment falls?

I was just trying out teh new HTML Fling SDK. I was following the steps from Getting_Started_with_HTML_Client_SDK_Fling.pdf.pdf.

I completed the setup steps and did the vCenter Server registration. But when I try to verify the steps of vCenter Server registration, it fails with below error on the browser (https://localhost:9443/ui/login):

A server error occurred.

[400] An error occurred while sending an authentication request to the vCenter Single Sign-On server - An error occurred when processing the metadata during vCenter Single Sign-On setup - Keystore to be used for remote connections is null..

My VMWARE_CFG_DIR is set to C:/ProgramData/VMware/vCenterServer/cfg/. I have also attached the vsphere_client_log.log.

I see couple of errors in the log, but not sure how to resolve them.

Got a bizarre error here during the automation wizard for 7.0.1:

The above error happens during the Single Sign-On section of the installation wizard. It read like a glitch to me, so I ran through a few different options to make sure I'm not just mis-matching passwords or not hitting the requirements:

I've tried a password that matches the root password for the box/appliance and ones that are nothing similar to anything in the environment. Nothing seems to be working.

Anyone have a workaround for this, or am I doomed to a manual install?

This issue only occurs  in system center Orchestrator 2012 sp1 run .net script activity.

Just upgraded to PowerCLi 6.3.0.8258, OS running powershell 3.0.

had to invoke-command all the runbook activities to run powercli code in 64bit.

All is well until I try the the new-VM command in a .net script activity.  The get-template command returns only 1 object, the correct template object, but new-vm command sees it as multiple values and not know what to do then dumps.  This entire script works just fine outside of orchestrator on the same server with identical creds.  Verified only one session in $defaultviserver.  Have tried run behavior in flatten/non-flatten mode, same thing.  I am hoping there is something simple I am overlooking, please advise if you have ran across this, thanx.

I have a setup as below

vcenter server and client 5.5, a plugin developed on top of 5.5 client. When I register the plugin I don't see any problem and it ends successfully. But the plugin does not show up on the web client.

This happened on an installed base and right now we don't have the logs handy. Have captured the snap of the exception trace and attached along with. 

Some important points

1. We do bundle vim25.jar with our plugin and copy it to the destination along with our jars.

2. We observed that another plugin was installed prior to registering ours.

We suspect some package conflicts or so based on the above two points...Any help , pointers/suggestions will be deeply appreciated.

Hola. Les hago una consulta. Cuando inicio Windows 7 en Vmware, abro el Firefox y el Internet Explorer y al intentar ingresar a Google o Hotmail no puedo entrar a dicha página, el navegador se queda en blanco. Abrí la consola de CMD e hice ping a estos dos sitios y envía y recibe paquetes normalmente.

Si voy al icono de Network adapter y trato de configurar otra conexión me aparece un triangulo amarillo con un signo de admiración dentro, si esto no lo toco el icono de red que se ubica al lado del reloj de Windows (menú de inicio) "queda en estado normal con la leyenda de acceso a Internet".

También intenté utilizar la opción Reinstall VMware Tools (aunque creo que no tiene nada que ver con mi problema) y tampoco me resolvió mi asunto. Reinicie y apague varias veces la maquina virtual y nada. Me fije en los servicios y en las conexiones de red, tanto en el sistema operativo nativo (anfitrión) como el huésped y todo estaría en orden.

¿Ustedes qué creen que pueda ser? Espero que me puedan ayudar. Saludos.

P.D.: me olvidaba, antivirus no tengo, pero quise instalar el AVG y antes de instalarse se descargo con total normalidad. Lo que hice en este caso, fue descargar desde el sistema operativo nativo (anfitrión) el programa para la instalación, y luego lo pase al sistema operativo huésped.

I am troubleshooting a PowerCLI authentication/connection issue.

I have a service account that can connect to my 6.0 U2 VCSA using PowerCLI 6.0 R3 and the connect-viServer cmdlet.

The same service account cannot connect to the same 6.0 U2 VCSA using PowerCLI 6.3 R1 and the connect-viServer cmdlet.

When using 6.3 R1, I get the following error:
