VROPS VDI Overview Shows Reconnect Time Threshold Violation is Above

Underneath Pod Session Metrics it is showing our 'POD AVG Session' 'Reconnect Time' is above threshold value. Any ideas on how I can drill down into this to show what is causing this value to above threshold? How do I resolve this metric? I have tried to work through support but got no where. Thank you in advance.

vCenter Server Appliance constantly says after logging in: "Installation in Progress"..."Starting Services" 90%

Every time I log into my server appliance, a window pop up saying "Installation in Progress, Starting services" and gets hung up on 90%. The only way I have figured out how to fix this temporarily is to ssh into the appliance and restart the services. After that process is done, the window will go away, but will come back a couple days later. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks!

1 Saludo.

Muchas gracias.

PowerCLI installs but does not work

I think I've tried just about everything, followed the various forum posts here on resolving this issue but I cannot get PowerCLI to work! I can't believe how difficult this is. I followed instructions on installing and uninstalling but no success. I'm trying this on 3 different Windows 10 systems without success (Windows 10 Enterprise, versions 1709 and 1809). The main issue i'm trying to resolve is:

PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Install-Module -Name VMware.PowerCLI -Confirm:$false -AllowClobber -Force

PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Connect-VIServer

Connect-VIServer : The 'Connect-VIServer' command was found in the module 'VMware.VimAutomation.Core', but the module

could not be loaded. For more information, run 'Import-Module VMware.VimAutomation.Core'.

I verified that the files do exist in the module directories, and verified they're removed during an uninstall, using these commands:

(Get-Module VMware.PowerCLI -ListAvailable).RequiredModules | Uninstall-Module -Force

Get-Module VMware.PowerCLI -ListAvailable | Uninstall-Module -Force

I did this as admin, i tried an older version too. I would not expect this much difficulty from a basic Windows 10 installation where PowerCLI has never been installed.

Upgrade from vCenter 6.0 to vCenter 6.5

Hello Forum Members,

I am planning to upgrade vCenter Server 6.0 Essentials to vCenter Server 6.5

I am planning to upgrade all our ESXi hosts from vSphere 6.0 to vSphere 6.5 U2 - the max for our platforms.

I have received good info from internet, vmware, and the forum. but I still have questions.

I have seen where upgrading vCenter Server is really a migration to another ESXi host, then changing ips, etc.

We are using an HP DL380p for the "host" for the vCenter Server. Am I required to have another physical host

to perform the upgrade/migration or can I perform upgrade/migration to the same host, or another vm?

That part of the upgrade is not clear to me.

Thanks for a good source of information,

Oliver G

Change Blueprint of Managed Machine

Hello,

Is there any way to change the blueprint associated with a managed machine? We have some old blueprints we want to get rid of as we are reorganizing vRA, but there are still active machines tied to them. I have tried using the bulk import method and changed the blueprint and component values, but after importing those values did not change. I suppose we could unregister them from vRA first and then try Bulk import, but I was hoping there was an easier solution.

connect-viserver not passing thru user credentials in Windows 2016

$

I have been fighting this for quite some time.  When I run "connect-viserver servername" it will prompt me for the logon credentials in our Windows 2016 jump box, but it works just fine in our older 2008 jump boxes.  PowerCLI is the latest version on both, so is our VCSA 6.5, external PSC.  Both the VCSA and PSC are joined to the domain.

I have boiled this down to an encryption problem.  Due to DOD STIG (security) requirements, the registry key HKLM/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/policies/system/kerberos/parameters/SupportedEncryptionTypes is different in Windows 2016.  in 2016 it is 7ffffff8, in 2008 it is 7ffffffc.  Changing this value fixes the problem.  This bit change controls RC4-HMAC.  In other words, we have to enable RC4-HMAC to allow PowerCLI to properly pass thru the credentials.  This is not acceptible on soooo many levels.

How do we get PowerCLI to properly passthru credentials without enabling RC4-HMAC?

Office Pro Plus installs/configures on every launch of Outlook

Hello:

We just upgraded from AppVol 2.12 to 2.14.2 (latest).  After the upgrade, users are calling in with an issue where Outlook 2016 Pro Plus tries to run an install or configure every time it is launched. In our case we have Office installed directly on the master image which has not changed, it is not an AppStack.  We use Writable Volumes and I have verified that the issue is not related to any changes in the snapvol.cfg file with the update as I've tried the old version of snapvol.cfg as well and get the same behavior, so it's definitely an issue with the 2.14.2 upgrade somehow.

Has anybody else experienced this and know of a workaround?  I've been looking and so far no solution that I can find.

Thanks in advance!

Unable to add additional vCenter

I have successfully added a vCenter using an external PSC/SSO server and receive data in Adviser.  However, I'm now trying to add an additional standalone vCenter and getting the following message.  The same user account is being used, which has the same permissions in both vCenter environments.

Couldn't create collection task to test endpoint. -> java.lang.RuntimeException: Couldn't login the client. -> Couldn't login the client. -> General failure. -> Internal server error

Workstation Player 15 Reboots Windows 10 Host

I have Windows 10 Build 18298 and when I try to boot a Ubuntu 18.10 64-bit iso to install Ubuntu, Windows 10 reboots. There's no error message or anything, just a silent reboot.

I can run the same iso in VirtualBox with no problem. I don't see any errors in Event Viewer that have anything to do with WP 15 either.

windows 10 1809 slow

I downloaded the Windows 10 1809 and Server 2019 ISOs the day they became available so I can start working on my templates.

I built the templates with EFI, paravirtual for the C drive and vmxnet3 adapter. I've been using this combo for other versions of windows 10/8/7and windows server 2008r2/2012r2/1016 without issue.

So far Windows 2019 (with desktop experience) seems to be ok at least for a basic vm and guest customization. Haven't tried anything else yet.

Windows 10 1809 on the other hand is very, very slow to reboot after the initial install or even just rebooting after making some changes post install. After installing the OS it took 10-15 minutes for the initial windows setup stuff (user, security settings, etc) to appear . I tried a VM set to BIOS and it seemed faster but was still quite slow. Server 2019 and other versions of windows 10 have no issue.

The hosts are esxi 6.5 and 6.7.

I haven't had a chance to try every combo of BIOS/EFI/vmxnet3/e1000e/paravirtual/lsi sas to see if one is the cause of the issue but was wondering if anyone else had noticed any issues or if it was just me?

Thanks

Connect VMware vSAN dual 10G NIC nodes to Cisco Nexus 5548UP using vPC

Hello!

I have 4-Node (Intel S2600TPR) Hybrid Hyperconverged Cluster connected to 2xCisco Nexus 5548UP Switches with L3 modules.

Each node has 2x1Gbps NICs (Intel I350 onboard, not unused) and 2x10 Gbps NICs (Intel 82599EB SFP+, connected to Nexus Switches).

On Nexus vPC is configured for each vSAN host.

On vSAN Distrubuted Switch is used with LACP LAG for two uplinks.

The question is:

What configuration best practices for Nexus and Distributed Switch? Especially, LACP or not, MTU, load-balancing algorithm on both ends etc. Are any special issues with traffic polarization and failover?

Great thanks for any help!

Migrate to new server

Hello,

I have a current subscription for a 1yr access to vSphere and vCenter and it has been working absolutely fabulous for me. In line with scaling my infrastructure i bought a new poweredge server and want to migrate my entire esxi system including all datastores and vms to this new system. I had a couple of questions regarding this:

  1. Would it be better to simply add this new server as a new datacenter and keep my existing server as an additional "backup" server within esxi?
  2. Would i have to change/add anything licensing to keep my license valid?
  3. Anything else i might need to know for this process?

Thanks for your time!

Apply two default settings for the same app in two diferent enviroments.

Hello,

I have the following problematic situation:

A user has the same application in two different environments, on his local computer and on Horizon View. The two enviroments as VMWare UEM. Each environment needs a different configuration. I have organized it like this:

-I generated the correct configuration and upload to Personalization tab separately.

1.png

- I established that each configuration applies only if a security group + ip address condition is met.

Local configuration. (KSD_IBZ)

2.png

Horizon View configuration. (KSD_MAN)

3.png

-I set the "Profile Cleanup" to delete the entire "Import / Export" tab when the user logs off. With this step I try to load the correct "Predefined Settings" in the next login because I do not know if it will be local or in Horizon View. The Profile Cleanup is set in both configurations.

3.png4.png

The problem: In the first environment it works well (local). But when the user logs in the Horizon View, no configuration is loaded. I see in the logs that UEM load the local configuration and discard the Horizon View configuration, and the user is in the ip range to load the Horizon configuration and not the local one! (The user as both app security groups)

Log trying to login in Horizon View:

2018-12-12 10:49:29.447 [INFO ] Config file '\\mydomain.com\DFSRoot$\UEMConfiguration\General\Applications\_KSD_IBZ.ini' added to DirectFlex cache. -> LOCAL CONFIGURATION

2018-12-12 10:49:29.603 [INFO ] Config file '\\mydomain.com\DFSRoot$\UEMConfiguration\General\Applications\_KSD_MAN.ini' not added to DirectFlex cache due to conditions. -> VIEW CONFIGURATION

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Default UIA_Plus_Profile Template

$

Any ideas how to set the default template for the UIA_Plus_Profile volume?

Due to the migration to O365 I have had to give writable volumes to all users so that the caching of the OST file can be saved with their profile and won't have to download each time they login.  Since doing that we are having a lot of the writable volumes get full and users start getting error messages that they are out of space.  Rather then expand each one I created a new UIA_Plus_Profile Template which is 20GB instead of the default 10GB.

I can create a volume manually using the new template and it works but when I add users to the security group in AD and it creates it automatically it still uses the old one.

Safe Download Link for MacOS 10.10 ISO?

I am trying to install a MacOS 10.10 virtual machine on my Mac 10.13.6 MacBook Pro using VMWare Fusion 10.1.5. I have a 10.10 installer with the .app extension. When I try to use the .app extension file as the ISO, it appears that things are installing up properly and then I get a notification that "This copy of the Install OS X Yosemite application can't be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading."  I found a YouTube video with the 10.10 ISO file download link in the notes (ISO Image of MAC OS Yosemite 10.10 How to install on PC or virtual machine - YouTube ), but I was hoping someone could point me to an apple.com site to download it from as I don't like downloading files from unknown sites/persons.

Thank you in advance for your help!
