Workstation 12 Host USB Floppy Drive not visible in VM machine settings

Hello -

I have a Mitsumi USB floppy disk drive connected to my host that I would like to be able to use with my VMWare machines.

The USB floppy appears as drive A: in my host machine, however VMWare does not see it and it is not displayed in the floppy drive settings for any of the virtual machines.

Does anyone know of a workaround or a way to let workstation see the USB drive as a valid floppy drive?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For info my host system is Windows 10 pro 64bit, 32GB ram and I'm running Workstation 12 Pro 12.1.1.build-3770994

Function Keys

I am using VMware Player, version 6.0.7 build-2844087 on a Vizio CA24-A1 computer running Windows 10.  The "guest" system is Fedora 24.  An application I am running on the guest system uses function keys extensively.  None of them appear to work within the VMware Player.  When I press F10 I get the letter "N".  Different letters appear to be mapped to different function keys.  How do I get the function keys to work?

My VMware Workstaion 12 pro is just sending this message "Could not initialize logging"

HI i just want do do something for youtube so i just made a scene and i just crashed an Windows XP Profesional and after that is just showing this message when i try to start the program:                                                     "Could not initialize logging"

Macbook pro late 2011, Intel Integrated graphics, OpenGL 3.3 support

Apple's website says "Macbook Pro late 2011 13 inch " supports OpenGL 3.3  ( Please note 13 INCH )

 

Mac computers that use OpenCL and OpenGL graphics - Apple Support

 

I don't  see support for OpenGL 3.3, in my vmware fusion:

virtual machine --> Settings --> Display --> Accelerate 3D Graphics

 

"Supports OpenGL 2.1 and Xrender (requires Linux kernel 3.2.0+ and Mesa3D 8.0.0+)"

 

Can someone help me with this ?

I have found these on every node, all 15 of them, in one of my vSAN clusters.  I don't seem to have this problem everywhere and it appears to be isolated. 

 

As a side note I do not have the performance service running.  As a trouble shooting step I have enabled and disabled the service, but I'm not sure if the scope of the issue is with the performance service even though it appears to be that way. Any help would be great.

nic cards become incompatible

version: esxi 6x

hardware: HP Proliant dl360

 

I enabled passthru on my nic cards from inside the remote management console and rebooted, now the vmware host reports that there are "no compatible network cards available" and I have no access to the mgt console, or the vmware guests. 

 

I went into the configuration menu directly on the host and do not see any options to reverse this. There was a "reset network settings" option, which I did, but that does not seem to do anything.  

 

How can I get back in the management console? or how can I disable passthru to make the cards compatible again?

Different Color Icons in the Restore Tab

Can someone point me to some documentation that explains what the different colored icons mean when I select a guest to restore?  Some of the backups are Orange icons some of the backups are green with a red dot in the top left.

Crash-consistent backups in VDP

Hi everybody

 

I have installed the vSphere Data Protection 6.1 and since few days the backup of a VM is "crash-consistent". The other VMs don't have this problem and all the backups are "application-consistent".

 

What is the meaning of this type of backup?

 

What can I do to solve this issue?

Managed IP seems to be ignored, any clue ?

Hello,

 

I have a vcenter with two nic

nic 1: 192.168.1.100/24 gateway 192.168.1.1

nic 2: 192.168.2.1/24 no gateway

 

ESXI Hosts are on different subnets, all routed. They are managed by 192.168.1.100.

 

 

Now want them to be managed by 192.168.2.1 (I will not route 192.168.1.0/24).

I changed the DNS to point to the new ip, put 192.168.2.1 in ManagedIP.

 

Hosts refuse to use 192.168.2.1 and continue to use 192.168.1.100 even if I remove/add them of vcenter.

 

Do you have any clue ?

I installed WSX and configured it correctly, after that, i shared my OS, but its not shown in the VMware WSX Panel, credentials are correctly but will not work because of an Phyton Error...

 

I get the error: [Errno 8] _ssl.c:480: EOF occurred in violation of protocol

allright, i tried the same with working vSphere Client like on the following Screenshot, but still the same error in WSX (of course i used the correct credentials again)

Lets say, something is incorrect in VMware  Workstation 12? No, theres working everything fine, like on the following Screenshot, that spoofs, credentials are correct and will work fine with correct IP, Port and Credentials to login...

Issue with Player menu bar in VMware Workstation Player 12.1.1 with host OS Linux Mint 18

Using VMware Workstation Player 12.1.1 build-3770994  on Linux Mint 18 to make a Windows 7 VM. The issue is that on the VMware Player menu bar, where you usually see items like "File", "VM", and "Help", only "File" appears. However, once I have the "File" dropdown menu open, I can slide my mouse over to the right and the next (unlabeled) menu opens, and then if I slide my  mouse over a little more, the "Help" menu opens. Or I can click on the unlabeled part of the menu bar where the labels for those menus would be, and the dropdown menus appear.

 

Not a big thing, pretty much cosmetic since I can get to the unlabeled dropdown menus, but the Player is usually better than this. The menu bar labels and dropdown menus are usually all there, and the problems that I encounter are much more subtle operational problems. I've played around, but I don't see any way to bring the missing menu bar labels back. And I've removed and re-installed this (checked the md5sum after downloading, as well) and have seen the same thing both times.

 

Any way to get the full menu bar labeling? Am I the only one seeing this?

I currently have a Win 7 Pro ISO and key but when i try to create a new VM it is loading a Win 7 home basic version so my keys aren't letting me register the windows version...

 

Any help, solutions or workarounds greatly appreciated...

ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error. VM works on old MBP and Win7 but not on new MBP [mid 2015 Retina], speed or network issue?

We are trying to use our VM on the new MBP Retina (mid 2015) with MacOS X 10.11 (El Capitan) but we got an Oracle startup issue. So we first converted our VM from ESX but once on the Mac laptop Oracle (v12.1.0.1.0 on WIN2012R2) doesn't open the database, error;

     ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

We didn't change any setting on the VM itself so services are running fine. Network has fixed IP with Host-only. Tried with Fusion 7.1 & Fusion 8.0.2 on new mac with no avail. Also with different VM tools versions. Tried removing the network adapter in Fusion and recreating it, no sucses.

 

Funny enough the same VM starts fine on PC (workstation 10.3.0 & Win7), MBP early 2011 (Fusion 7 & Mac 10.10) or ESX itself so Oracle opens the database!

Hence we are thinking in the direction of the new MBP specific? speed or network issue? Rings any bells?

vnic missing when add virtual machine on logical switch

Hi everybody,

 

i try to make a HOL-SDC-1625. When i attach the virtual machine "web-01-b" on another vcenter (Site B) on universal logical switch, at the time to choose the vnic (virtual machine) i haven't the checkbox to select network card adapter. Do you have some solutions give me?step1_NSX.PNGstep2_NSX.PNG

Hello,

I'm having the following problem.

I've a ESXI server on the web, and ativated the ssh to use it for remote backups.

The trial run went ok, full backup, but now i'm getting a wrong user/password.

I'm using the user/password to login on the esxi console, on site, but remote i can't.

Using the ssh or the vmclient for windows,

I only have the root account, and even after switching the password, rebooting the esxi server, nothing worked.

Any ideas?
