Error : "Mechanism level: KrbException:Cannot locate default realm" during Invoking a Powershell script in vRO7.0 WF

Hello All,

 

I am trying to invoke a powershell script in my vRO7 workflow. This script will be invoked in external powershell host. The power shell host is already been registered in my vRO7.0.

For this purpose, I am using the inbuilt workflow "Invoke a Powershell script" under the Library invRO7.0  Orchestrator client.

 

Yesterday the invocation was executed successfully, but while today morning during the execution of the script I received an error  (Mechanism level: KrbException:Cannot locate default realm)  (Workflow: Invoke a Powershell script/Invoke script(item0)#3).

 

 

Line #3 is:

session = host.openSession();

 

It seems that there is some Kerberos configuration error happened between vRO and Powershell host. Should I need to check the 'krb5.conf' filein the vCO 7.0 server ? or any other configuration needs to be checked ?  Strange thing is that, last week it was worked fine !!!

 

Can you please help me out ?

Horizon View 6 - Persona Management - Folder Redirection and Roaming & Synchronization

I'm having a quirky issue with the PMView.  This is what I see:

 

- Log as test user with Horizon View client (1st time)

- View Desktop loads Windows, and shows desktop (30-45 seconds)

(During this step, I see the profile and redirected folders are created correctly)

- Log off test user

- Log back in with the same test user (2nd time)

- View Desktop loads Windows, shows the "Welcome" screen, and then a black screen.

(During this step, I see the profile repository get "recreated" (i.e., the folders/files get deleted, and then recreated...))

- After 1-2 minutes later, the desktop shows up

 

This seems like an odd behavior to me, and it's probably related to how I've created my PMview.

 

This is what I have:

 

VMware View Agent Configuration/Persona Management/Desktop UI

Show critical errors to users via tray icon alerts = Enabled

 

VMware View Agent Configuration/Persona Management/Folder Redirection

Add the administrators group to redirected folders = Enabled

 

Application Data (Roaming) = Enabled

 

Redirect to the following location: \\FILESERVER\ViewFRedirection$\%username%\AppDataRoaming

 

Desktop = Enabled

Redirect to the following location: \\FILESERVER\ViewFRedirection$\%username%\Desktop

 

Favorites = Enabled

Redirect to the following location: \\FILESERVER\ViewFRedirection$\%username%\Favorites

 

My Documents = Enabled

Redirect to the following location: \\FILESERVER\ViewFRedirection$\%username%\Documents

 

VMware View Agent Configuration/Persona Management/Roaming & Synchronization

Files and folders excluded from roaming = Enabled

- Desktop

- Documents

- Favorites

- Recent Items

- Music

- Pictures

- Videos

 

Manage user persona = Enabled

Profile upload interval (in minutes): 1

 

Persona repository location = Enabled

Share path: \\FILESERVER\ViewProfiles$

 

Override Active Directory user profile path if it is configured = Enabled

 

Roam local settings folders = Enabled

vRO 7.x - Run workflow (WF) only after preceeding WF is completed.

I would like to run the next workflow only after provisioning VMs in a previous workflow is completed?  Is there a built-in feature in vRA or vRO that can do that. Any thoughts? Thanks

VM have poor graphics performance | Please help

Hello VMware -Community

 

first, sorry for my bad english and i hope, that you can understand me a Little bit.

 

 

At home i have not a separate homeserver, i will use my normal Computer for virtualisation.

My Computer have the following Hardware componetns:

 

HOST HARDWARE

Intel Core i7 4770k
MSI Z87-G55
GTX980 OC
16GB DDR3

 

GUEST HARDWARE

3 vcores

3 GB RAM

3D Graphics" is enabled.

 

After i installed the workstation 12 pro, i created a virtual machine with the operation system "Windows 10".

After the Windows 10 installation i installed the vmware tools on the guest System.

 

 

My problem is, that the performance of this virtual guest is no satisfactorily.

For example: When i move a window on my screen, then its running unnormal. (stocking ... no smooth moves).

 

 

The hardware of the host and of the guest system are not busy.

 

Then i checked the same situation with the free product "Oracle VirtualBox".

Here i have a better performance with smooth moves, when i move a window or scroll on a webpage. 

 

 

I think , that my host computer have enough hardware skill for virtualisation one virtual guest system with windows 10.

I hope, you can help me to Tuning my vm.

Correct vShere Images for IBM Flex System x220 Compute Node (PureFlex)

We need to figure out what is the correct software packages to use to upgrade the following hardware:

  • IBM Flex System x220 Compute Node (PureFlex) : CPU Series:Intel Xeon E5-2400 Series
  • from vSphere v 5.5 to v6.0 U2. (currently running the IBM 5.5 image)

 

Do we use the generic package listed under the Product Downloads tab or the Lenovo System x Custom Image for ESXi 6.0 U2 Install CD listed under the ISO tab?

 

The following URL is from the Compatibly Matrix, but does not mention a custom image.

Brand new WS Pro 12 install and new Win10x64 VM. Cannot snapshot or clone. Get error "One of the parameters supplied is invalid"

I've installed a licensed copy of WS Pro 12.1.1 build-3770994 on a Win10x64 host machine, and created a Win10x64 guest. The guest runs without any issues that I can see. The guest (to date) has no snapshots, is not encrypted, and has autoprotect disabled.

 

When I try to snapshot or clone (either full or linked), I get the error message "Cloning/Snapshot failed: One of the parameters supplied is invalid."

 

I have tried:

  • changing the name of the clone (or snapshot) to something without spaces
  • "cleanup disks" option (completes without any errors)
  • defragmenting the disk

 

The program still does not work. What could be the problem?

VMware View 6.2.2 Linux Desktop (CentOS 6.7) No Sound Issue

Hi,

 

This is the setup...

 

VMware Horizon View 6.2.2 build-3508079

VMware View Client: 3.4.0

Linux Desktop OS: CentOS 6.7 64-bit

 

Scenario

Linux desktops are configured to mount an NFS dastore upon boot.

 

NFS Server configuration

  • CentoOS 6.7
  • Joined to the domain using Centrify
  • /etc/exports/

        profiles 10.64.0.0/24(rw,no_root_squash,sync,no_subtree_check,fsid=10)

  • NFS folder: /profiles (permissions 755)

NFS Client configuration (Linux Desktops)

  • CentOS 6.7
  • Joined to the domain using Centrify
  • Mount Point: /profiles (permissions 700)
  • After mounting: /profiles (permissions read 755 nobody nobody)
  • /ets/fstab

        10.64.0.8:/profiles     /profiles               nfs     defaults,_netdev        0 0

Centrify

    I am using Centrify to join systems to the domain. I configured the Centrify agent to use the NFS mount (/profiles) for all AD user home directories.

 

Whenever I log in, I am am able to create a home directory on the NFS mount fine. I can save files, change desktop settings and upon future logins, I am able to retain

the user experience. I don't see any problems reading/writing files under the user's context. I notice that the speaker icon in the top corner will not appear. I go to

System --> Preferences --> Sound, and I get a window saying "Waiting for sound system to respond." This is what I see in /var/log/message:

    Sep  2 14:53:29 lnx-01 pulseaudio[12578]: core-util.c: Home directory /profiles/User1 not ours.

    Sep  2 14:53:29 lnx-01 pulseaudio[12578]: lock-autospawn.c: Cannot access autospawn lock.

    Sep  2 14:53:32 lnx-01 pulseaudio[12643]: lock-autospawn.c: Cannot access autospawn lock.

    Sep  2 14:53:32 lnx-01 pulseaudio[12643]: main.c: Failed to acquire autospawn lock

 

When I log in with a LOCAL or AD account configured to use the local /home directory that lives on the local disk, I am able to see the

sound icon in the top right corner, and sound works fine. I do not see the "pulseaudio" entries as I do when logging in with a user that

has their home directory on the NFS mount. This sound issue only exists when users' home directories are located on the NFS mount.

MDT Test FAILED

I am running Workstation 3.5, using the Storage Certification test suite.

I kicked of the Configuration and Collect Storage Information portion of the test and hit a failure.  The log is reporting MDT test failed.

The log in the 2nd screen shot says it cannot find storage60info.txt.

What creates the .txt file they are referring to or is that something I need to create.

How to store configuration information?

I'm building a few workflows that talk to several appliances.

 

I can prompt for the user/password as part of the workflow I think but I would like to store the following information somewhere so that i can easily reference it and pull it up for use rather than prompting the user.

 

I'm just looking to store

 

- hostname/ip

- username

- password

 

Where could i store that data?

 

The thought had occurred to create an Action to store it as a resource but I'm not sure if that's the right way to do it. I'm also not sure how to do it.

 

If someone has an example i can use, that would be greatly appreciated.

inactive storage

ESXi 5.5

После неожиданного выключения и последующего восстановления питания одно хранилище  (storage) на моей ферме помечена красным значком (знак "Кирпич") и словом inactive.

Это хранилище - локальный диск на одном из хостов.

Вообще-то все работает, в том числе и по этому хранилищу можно полазить браузером файлов.

Более того, это хранилище мы не используем для размещения VM или их компонент.

Тем не менее, красный значок напрягает. А может у хоста вообще проблемы с собственным диском?

 

Вопросы:

1. Есть ли тут опасность?

2. Как это привести в норму?

3. Если я отмонтирую хранилище, которое одновременно еще и локальный диск хоста, ничего не рухнет?

4. Как посмотреть, есть ли у хоста проблемы с собственным диском? Вероятно, если бы проблемы были серьезные, хост бы вовсе не стартовал. А если менее серьезные?

When does Fusion release CPU and Memory? (On Mac)

Hi folks, a quick question if I may.

 

I have fusion installed on my mac, and a Win7 vm setup.  I don't have this set to run at startup, so there are no Fusion services showing in Activity Monitor, there is a VMWare Fusion Start Menu.

 

I have the vm setup to use a chunk of memory and 2 cpu cores, but when does VMWare take these resources, and when does it release them?  Does this startup service reserve anything?

 

Reason for asking, I don't have many things set to run at startup, and those that do are pretty small, but I have a large chunk of memory gone before starting up a vm.  I can watch Activity and see a lump of memory taken when I start the vm, and released when I stop it, but it's not the amount I have chosen in the settings - Does Fusion reserve all the memory in one go, or as needed?  And the same kind of question with the cores, I can't find a way to monitor the cores taken, certainly using the limited Activity Monitor.

 

The information in the FAQ's and online resources about this kind of thing is somewhat lacking.

 

Any help or information on this subject would be very much appreciated, especially as I may need several more vm's soon, and will need to manage the numbers pretty closely.

Hi guys,

 

I'm facing the shown below error when I try to start a VM (which is on an external HDD) with VMware Workstation 12 Player:

 

HDD free space = 1.1To

VM.vmdk size = 430 Go

 

VMware player release = 12.1.1-3770994

Memory for this virtual machine = 16092 MB

Hard Disk (SCSI) = 558.7 GB  > Current size = 410.8 GB

 

I did all the fixes described here: https://www.petri.com/fixing-enough-physical-memory-available-errors-vmware-workstation but no improvement

 

Please, can someone help me to resolve this issue ?

vSphere upgrade from version 5.0 to 6.0

Current vSphere version is 5.0
All VM were backed up using HP data protector using Traditional Method (i.e. Backup agent installed on the guest operating system and were back up)

 

 

Plan is to upgrade the vSphere from ver5.0 to ver.6.0

Post upgrade will there be any issues/trouble related to backups. Do I need to take any precautionary steps related to backup infrastructure before the upgrade of vsphere

 

 

Please provide your inputs/thoughts

vCenter upgrade from 5.0 U3 to 6.0 U1

Plan is to upgrade the vCenter 5.0 U3 (Windows based) to vCenter 6.0 U1 (Windows based)

 

 

I check in VMware site for vCenter upgrade path compatibility check, I found that vCneter server appliance can only be update from ver.5.1 U3 to ver.6.0. Does it mean that windows based vCenter cannot be upgraded to newer version.6.0 ??

 


How I should plan for the windows based vcenter upgrade.

 

I need your valuable inputs/suggestion and direction on this.

Are multiple Witness appliances on single host supported?

I'm working on a design that includes two (8)-node VSAN 6.2 Stretched Clusters and a 2-Node ROBO MGMT cluster.

 

Assuming it resides in a 3rd site and is sized properly with required number of vNICs, disks, cores, etc., can a single physical ESXi host support the (3) Witness OVA appliances that each cluster will require?  (2 "Normal" and 1 "Tiny")

If so, what are the possible downsides to this design beyond scale?  It's unclear to me what would happen in the event of a host failure in this case.

VSM No longer very Useful

Hello,

 

The usefulness of VSM just dropped significantly. I can no longer download the products I own. The ability to download CustomIso's, Drivers and Tools, and the software was incredibly important. Going through the My VMware is very difficult. Now, since I have to login to VSM for it to work, one would assume that you could then use the same information to pick up any entitlements and allow the existing software to be downloaded.  VSM made it very convenient to get updated codes and code. Now we have to go back to the old increasingly painful way of doing such downloads and keeping everything up to date.

 

I request you add the functionality back in but also check any entitlements. If you ARE checking entitlements, it is odd that you dropped vSphere 6.0 from the update list as all the other tools include it as part of all other bundles. Keeping up to date is important!

ESXi Backups

Hi folks!

 

So I have the great luck of inheriting a small (3 server) esxi farm that I need to upgrade and clean up.  I also dont have the ESXI root passwords!!!

 

Does anybody know of a way to pull server configuration back ups so that once i reload ESXI on it I wont have to go through the hassle of manually re-building all the settings from scratch?

This is also VMware standard license so i cant do profiles.

 

On a side note, and i am doubtful, but, since i can see that the NTP is shut down and the time is off, can this cause the root passwords that they swear are it not function?

 

Lastly, would setting up AD help me by pass lack of root password?

vCenter 5.5 to 6.0 Upgrade doubts

Hello everyone i am planning to upgrade our vCenters Servers (3) from 5.5 to 6.0

 

My doubts are these ones:

 

1. We have separated SSO domains, after the upgrade we want to replicate the three PSC is there anyway to do that? I mean repointing PSC between them.

 

2. Between two of the vCenters we have installed Site Recovery Manager, what considerations we need to have if we can replicate the sites?
