I downloaded the latest vVNX to test the vVOL, my lab has 3 hosts with ESXi6 U1b and vCSA 6.0.0.10200. The vVNX is deployed to another esxi 6 and with one virtual HDD ( carved from 240G SSD drive using Thick provision Eager zero) is used to create a single storage pool, I strictly followed the instructions demonstrated in the following video, I did not create extra Storage Profile beyond these required for setting up vVOL. When vVOL is added to the three hosts, everything seems to be fine, but when I look at the storage size, it is 0 B, but when I looked at the storage devices attached to esx1 host, notice it says "inaccessible".   I also chchecked the time, my vCenter, ESXi, vVNX all NTPed to the same server, and their time skew is less than 1 min.

   For these small 3 host lab, I did not configure anything thing such as LUN masking or path selection rules. Also the Protocol Endpoint ip address can be seen from the hosts and vcenter,  When I ssh to any host and type

" esxcli storage vvol protocolendpoint list    " , the result is blank, so it appears that ProtocolEndPoint has some issues,  but yesterday, when I had two storage pools, for 30 min, everything worked ( I later destroyed that vVOL due to other mistakes).

    Does anyone have clue?  I mean the vVOL ver1.0 does seem to have some rough edges.

First of all I saw this post: VNX SRA for SRM 6.1

The main reason I run the virtual storage appliances is to demo SRM to customers.  For a long time I ran the UBER VNX but wanted the new plugins for vCenter6 plus I was having too many Java issues.

Issue: NO SRA's for any VNX unit on SRM 6.1?  Kinda surprised.

Running vVNX v8.1.3-37078.ova, SRM 6.1, vSphere 6 update2.

Error: no storageports found on the SRA configuration within SRM.

I have two appliances running, NFS datastore created, VM's in the datastore, and the nfs volume is replicated.  Just there is no way to inform SRM of such.

VROPs 6.1.0.3038036 Dynamic Thresholds calculation or it seems that makes Analytic's unavailable

My VROPs Analytics seems to start up every morning at 6am.

I also noticed that i do not have any collected data between 2am and 6am every day.

Is it supposed to do this and if so, is it possible to stop it or schedule it for once a week?

I do not have any other schedules or tasks running at all.

Losing data seems to be the main issue so i would like to fix it asap.

This is the only indication that i might think that the calculation os the cause.

Есть кластер серверов ESXi 5, 5.5 под управлением vCenter.

Есть машина WinServ 2012, которая  по SNMP мониторит инфраструктуру и принимает решения о выключении кластера.

Как, минимальными усилиями, организовать корректное завершение работы всех виртуальных машин в кластере, а затем и выключение ESXi.

Думаю нужно написать скрипт, который бы конектился к каждому ESXi и гасил его, но тогда в нем придется прописать все пароли от всех машин, что не хорошо.

Есть какие то альтернативные решения? А если писать скрипт то как лучше? Есть может у кого примеры?

i'm trying to install different fonts (.otf files) in my appstack. Every font does create a registry key and i can see the fonts also in the windows font folder -> start -> control Panel -> Fonts.

The fonts are gone when i use the created appstack. I still have the registry keys but not the fonts. i cant find them in word / photoshop or different programs.

someone got ideas?

VMware Tools in VMware 12 seems to set DPI of guest OS automatically according to the DPI of the host OS. It shows

"VMware Tools has modified the user interface size settings. You must log off to apply these changes. Close all applications and press OK to log off now, or press Cancel to log off later." automatically each time the DPI of the host OS changes.

Can this behaviour be disabled? I do not want VMware Tools to change DPI on the guest OS.

This is an urgent issue I am facing.

I am able to successfully install the agent -

But as soon as I close my putty session - the server says the host is not available and dies

The issue doesn't happen on a Linux box where even after the session is closed the host is accessible from the server.

I am attempting to install the NVidia drivers for a Grid K2 card to my esxhost.

ESX5.5

Running the following command with host in maintenance mode

# localcli software vib install --no-sig-check -v /tmp/NVIDIA-VMware_ESXi_5.5_host_driver_340.32-1OEM.550.0.0.1331820.vib

I get the following error

[InstallationError]

     The pending transaction requires 246mb free space, however the max supported size is 239MB.

     Please refer to the log file for more details

Not sure where I am short space.  I also tried installing it from a USB key and got the same error.

I open a request because I encounter an error with a manuel pool in our environnement.

We have a manuel pool where we already have 10 VM who working correctly.

The issue are the following :

I clone a VM in our Vcenter, I configure the VM by adding this one the domain, change the hostname, etc. The view agent are installed on the Windows 7 in version 6.2.0. The latest version of the agent.

After I go the the web interface on our Vmware View Horizon and adding the Desktop to the manuel pool. The desktop is adding but i got the message "Waiting for agent".

I try to delete vmware tools and vmware  view agent on the VM and re-install it in the correct order but nothing change. The message still present.

I also try to install other version of the view agent on the Desktop but always the same message.

I look in the registry of the Desktop : VMWare Inc => VMware VDM => Agent => Configuration => In the value Broker, the value is blank. When I try to add the value and restart the services for the agent, the value dissapear.

I don't see any connection to the connection server with "netstat -an". But i'm able to ping the connection server.

When I look on the Desktop who correctly working the adress of the broker are set correctly.

Can you help me for this issue ?

There was missing some information about the connection server.

Here the log of the desktop in attachement.

Does this mean that when a user with a Chromebook connects to a Windows desktop and plugs a flash drive into the Chromebook, this flash drive will be available in the Windows session?

Sometimes (far to often for my comfort) a writable volume is attached to a View pool member (Windows 7) and the VM will stall on connection. Horizon admin console shows that the status of the VM is still available, but shows multiple datastore attachments, which indicate a writable volume is attached.

At this point, there is nothing that I can do to detach the writable volume from this instance. If I try to reset the pool member, vcenter shows the error "<the writable volume> cannot be opened for writing. It might be shared with some other VM." and does not reset. I also have tried a refresh operation on that instance, but that doesn't proceed either (no error message with that one)

There doesn't seem to be a mechanism inside of the app volumes console to detach a writable volume. There is the delete option, but I don't want to lose user data by doing that.

I would like to deploy this feature because it shows promise, but not with this problem.

Does anybody have any ideas?

I recently updated vCenter 5 to 5.5.After updating I am facing a issue  like... Every vm has different notes written but some times its showing same notes to all vms.

Example:

First Highlight a vm where notes are written and click a vm where notes are not written but after clicking here previous vms notes are showing.

Host Cpu and memory statistics are loading very slowly.
