vsphere datacenter storage issue

I have a QNAP Device ,and created a ISCSI target on this Device,I Don't use the CHAP authenticates , In vSphere client 5.1,I created an iscsi adapter,in it's properties,Static Discovery ,add iscsi target .

then,created an new lun/disk.

there'is a VDP server stored in this storage.  I used my VDP server backup my virtual ,but I have encountered an strange issue ,that every day my iscsi storage will be disconnect.it will be display:inactive

if I need it to active ,I must be restart my QNAP NAS ,then it will be normal.

I try to connect this iscsi target use dynamic discovery. but it can't be found iscsi target.please help .

強制終了後VMWFが立ち上がらなくなった

VMWF4.1.4でMAC 10.07.5 WindowsXPですが、こんな表示がでて仮想HDDが、リンクしてない様です。こんな警告が出てきてそこからどうにもなりませんディスク /Users/sanbu/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized/Windows XP Professional.vmwarevm/Windows XP Professional-000002.vmdk は非整合な状態にある可能性があります。

何かやり方が有れば教えてください、どうにも出来ず困っていますどなたか分かる方おしえてい下さい。よろしきお願い致します、

Migrating Windows Server 2003 over network to Mac mini fails with I/O error

I am trying to migrate a Windows Server 2003 Standard server to my Mac mini for testing/development. When trying to migrate the pc over the network, by using the Migration Agent running on the Windows Server I get the error message "A file I/O error occurred while accessing \path to the folder for saving the vmdk\ I setup an external 3TB drive to store it on. I have gotten the same message 3 times and am not sure how to proceed.

 

Any ideas?

 

Mac OS X Server 10.9.4

Mac mini

External USB 3 drive (not enough storage on the internal Mac mini drive.

Windows 2003 Standard Server fully patched.

Windows Server 20012 R2 VM's always crashes after making initial snapshot or clone of it

I have been using VMware Workstation just fine for creating virtual machines running a good majority of Windows Server 2008 R2 (20 VM's), Windows 7 (2 VM's), and Windows 8 (VM's).  I started creating VM's for Windows Server 2012 R2 and everything has been fine until I started cloning.  Not only were the clones crashing but the one in which I created the clone from started crashing too.  The crash begins when you start the VM.  I tried another exericse and rather than cloning I created 4 VM's using my Windows Server 2012 R2 ISO image.  All four were built successfully and with all the necessary Windows updates.  I created snapshots on 2 of the 4 VM's and when I rebooted those VM's they started crashing?!?  But the other 2 VM's in which haven't had a snapshot made yet can be powered down and started up with no problem.

 

VMware, what the heck is going on with Workstation and VM's running Windows Server 2012 R2?  It'll work perfectly fine in powering up/powering down/restart but the moment you either create your first snapshot or clone it and then power it up it will crash!!!

 

PLEASE ASSIST!  I need VM's running Windows Server 2012 R2 and it would be nice to have snapshots and clones.  Most appreciated.

Getting VM list from vCenter in Java Service backend

Hi,


I create a plugin to get the list of VM from vCenter. What I did is to create Proxy interface from the Flex server and use the Java Service Backend to connect to vCenter to get the VM list.


If I execute the code at the initial, I could get the list of VM.


However, when I execute the same code at the proxy function in the java service. I get the following error:


exception javax.xml.stream.xmloutputfactory cannot be created


It happens for the following call


RetrieveResult restriveResult = vimPort.retrievePropertiesEx(propCol, propertfyFilterSpec, rOptions);

esx to be installed on laptops and desktops

Hi experts

 

My dad has a tendency to mess up his computer, so i thought that if I put a esx layer on his laptop and desktop, then he can just spin off VMs instead of doing costly repairs when he manages to pull a division by zero (last time the cpu went bust, not sure how... he is not even a programmer, he is an english teacher... who likes to tinker) again.

 

I guess in theory it can be done. but once complete, the UI is a bit of problem for.

 

Because if he powers on the laptop, he will see the yellow and black ESX management console, is there a way to hide that temporarily and skip straight to the VM instead?

Cannot connect physical host PC to Virtual machine on Vmwave VSphere.

First,my English is not good,so please ignore me,thanks you...:)

This is my problem:

On my PC,I install VMwave Workstation,Esxi on it,and 1 VMwave VSphere 5.5.

My PC have IP 193.168.40.168

My host Esxi have IP 193.168.40.128

On my VMwave VSphere,I installed 2 CentOS virtual machine.I created 2 vlan on both 2 CentOS MV....eth0 have ip address 193.168.40.0 network ; Vlan2:11.11.1.0 with eth0.1; Vlan3:12.12.1.0 with eth0.2.

On 2 CentOS, i can ping to 193.168.40.128 and they can ping each other through vlan 1 and 2.Now,My problem is i can't ping to 193.168.40.168.Please everyone tell me why? and solution to solve this my problem.Thank you very much.

Yes - that's what I said - this has gone far enough and its time the user community took a stand to let VMware know how horrible the web client is, it is tantamount to my worst user interface experience in 20 years of IT.  

 

Attention VMware - this is really simple - all the money you wasted developing this could have been spent in other areas.  you are forcing GARBAGE on your customer base, and for that you will eventually crash and burn, its only a matter of time.  Hasn't the thousands upon thousands of posts about this sunk in yet??  Hello?

 

Purpose of this post is simple and obvious...  please refrain from your A** kissing pitch about cloud this and that... don't need to hear it.    and I could care less about managing a complex infrastructure from an android or ipad, its ridiculous to expect someone to squeeze the mountains of information that needs to be at your finger tips quickly to efficiently manage a VMware infrastructure on a tiny screen...

 

If I wasn't totally pissed off with having to use this client I wouldn't have posted this VENTING..

Large customer - vCenter 5.5 U1c Web Client Response Time/ Performance and Navigation issues

So we all are aware of the issues with vCenter 5.5U1 web client and how we are forced to use it to make use of any features of vHardware v10, vDS 5.5 (switch config changes sync issues if an emergency change is made on c# client vDS) VSAN only available through web client, flash issues, sluggish to not responsive issues, and the list goes on with the layout of menus and hard to navigate, SSO issues (still after 5.5 enhancements)

So is the vCenter Architecture team @ VMware going to make an effort to hear and act upon the much needed performance enhancements and UI enhancements before adding on more features and SSO type services which majority of the customers don't use, and not force it's customers to continue to loose faith in its vCenter product?

Looking for some answers with options to strip vCenter 5.5 U1c installation down along with a promise to address these in vCenter 6.0 release!

ESXi 5.0 random reboot

I have an ESXi 5.0 host that will randomly reboot. Its on a Win 2008 R2 server and is running two virtual machines with Win 7 OS. Has anyone else had this problem? Can you point me in the right direction to solving this issue.

I cant get it to work. I have a model Class of type computechassis and it has a operStatus property. It never goes to DataProviderAdapter implementation class to get the value of operStatus. Not sure where am i going wrong. Could someone please advice?

SIGAR 1.6.4 ifconfig does not return PPP devices on Windows

I'm using SIGAR to develop a multiplatform network device stats analiser (RX and TX), and when using a usual GSM (2G), 3G or even LTE USB dongle using a PPP adapter to communicate with Windows (tested 32 bits for XP, Vista and 7, and 64 bits Vista and 7), it does not appear on the network devices list (e.g., ifconfig on SIGAR's cmd).

 

The same USB dongles (I tested many different ones, models and manufacturers since I work on a Wireless Carrier) when used on Mac OS (tested Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion), or Linux (tested on Ubuntu 32 bits), worked flawlessly. All these USB dongles are connected as PPP adapters on Mac OS and Linux, so I think this must be some kind of a bug.

Error using vCenter SSO

I have problem trying to make vCAC work with the last version of vCenter SSO (Version 5.5.0 Build 1945276).

 

I've tried with this version and the previous one with the same problem. First, It seams to work but when you tried to create a new tenant you get the "System Error". Then, when I try to log in the appliance, I get a popup saying: "Failed to initialize:".

 

The directory "/var/log/vmware/vcac" is empty in the vcac appliance.

 

Any help please?

SRA for IBM Storewize - update proecedure question

Hi,

 

I've to update SRA for IBM Storewize V7000 installed on working SRM to latest version (2.3.0).

 

I've checked User Guide and Release Notes but I can't find any information about update procedure - so may question is - can it be done without uninstalling previous version of SRA ?

 

I've installed SRAs in the past but this is first time I need to upgrade it on live system (of course I'll take snapshots of SRM VMs before starting process) and so far I can't find a lot of details about how to do it.

Converting SCSI disk to IDE using VMware Fusion

I was trying to convert the SCSI disk to IDE using VMWare fusion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WSjtCjcXjY

 

Facing some issues after the conversion, i am not able to merge the split vmdk files?

The linux is not detecting the IDE disk and its not booting up the linux OS in the disk.

I am using 2.6.22 linux version, can you please let me know if we need to enable some specific linux kernel flag on linux to enable detecting IDE harddisks.
