Issue with increasing drive sizes

Hello all,

I've got an apparently common problem but unfortunately the common solutions don't seem to apply.  I have a VM that I migrated from ESXi 4 to 5.1 a year ago and have been using without a problem.  Recently it has become necessary to increase the primary drive size from the original 60gb but the size options are greyed out.  I have checked and there are no snapshot files nor are there any <0000>.vmdk files in the VM directory in the datastore.  I even created a new snapshot then used the "Delete All" button to make sure all snapshots are gone but the size options are still greyed out.  I tried upgrading the virtual hardware so in the VM Properties I see the version is vmx-09 which I understand is the most current version.  The disk is a thick provisioned lazy zeroed drive which I thought might be part of the problem so I added a new thin provisioned disk and I can't increase the size of that one either.  It seems to be limited to this virtual machine though as I have other VM's present on this server that I can increase the drive size with no problems although I haven't upgraded the virtual hardware for those so they're still at version 7 (I'm not sure if that matters).

So I'm absolutely positive there are no snapshots or snapshot files, I've upgraded the hardware to the latest available, and I'm pretty sure the disk type doesn't matter since it seems to apply to thick and thin provisioned disks.  I'm out of ideas.  Any help would be much appreciated!

Regards,

Tim
