vsphere 5.0 tuning and maintenance

Hi.

I am new to the site and really, a bit newish to vsphere 5. Our original implementation was done well from what I knew at the time and recently I have taken over the administration of our vm environment and been delving into how things have been set up. That has led me to at least question how the newer volumes were added. Our previous senior administrator was usually thorough and used the Round Robin algorithm for multipathing but somewhere along the line, newer volumes were added using the Fixed algorithm. It has not been an impediment yet but I do believe that consistency would be the better approach here and would like all volumes to use the Round Robin algorithm going forward.

I would like ask if anyone would be able to advise me on whether or not changing the Path selection from Fixed to Round Robin can be done live. Is that possible without impacting users? As in, should make that change during normal working hours?

An additional question is the IOPs settings. Going back to the original implementation, our implementation consultant stressed what he knew s best practices but also seemed to like the conservative approach. I have read that you can change the IOPs from 1000 to 3 which has been recommended when using the Round Robin algorithm. All the examples were command-line based... I would just like to see what the settings actually are before deciding to put forward any change recommendations. Is it possible to see the IOPs from within the vSphere 5 client.

Is it possible for me to see that information in the vSphere client?
