I'm a member of the microsoft technet scripting guys forum and someone posted a question relating to scripting the automatic shutdown of a virtual machine once a trial period has expired. See the post here:

I have a few ideas on how to do this from within windows but i thought there may be some API's exposed that might make the job easier? Does anyone have any ideas on how this could be achieved?
