    Using vRops 6.7 epops-agent, can we use domain service account for in the agent.properties for agent.setup.serverLogin.

    None of these syntax works such as ABC\epopsagent or epopsagent@ABC.LOCAL

    Is domain service account supported?

    I am trying to upgrade vRA 7.3.1 to vRA 7.4.0 using vRLCM 2.0.

    I have imported my environment to vRLCM successfully.  But during precheck for upgrade it is throwing below error for only my Primary Appliance. Rest everything is passed.

    Just for note my vRA environment is 3 Node Cluster with 3 vRA Appliances.

    VMWare Fusion Professional Version 8.5.10 (7527438)

    When I power-on the VM, MacBook fan starts to run very noisy and get machine hot. I've seen in Activity Monitor that a process "vmware-vmx" is hanging a lot of CPU (about 100-150% at any time).

    I got a Windows 10 Enterprise VM with dedicated/allocated 2 cores and 8GB RAM. I power-on the virtual machine and min later the fans are running very fast and Activity Monitor shows that vmware-vmx is using +100% CPU.

    I've tried to play with the resources, turn off accelerate 3D graphics but no result. What can I do to troubleshoot and how do I get to the root cause. This issue was not even noticeable a year ago but not sure what changed to all the sudden heat up and run high CPU.

    Help please!

    Dear all,

    First of all I am new to this forum. So sorry if I have placed my question to wrong area.

    We have installed a Horizon server installation in our Departement to provide to provide our users virtual Linux Workstations. This works fine. Because we also have some 3D Stereo Workstation we would like to replace. Is there a way to provide Stereo Workstations with the Horizon Environment?

    We do have NVIDIA P40 installed 3D software is running fine (like Pymol).Our idea is to have a dual HEAD based installation for Stereo. Any idea or advice?

    Thanks a lot for any feedback!

    Best,

    Gregor

    Hello, i'm trying to implement an extension of vCloud Director API based on this material: https://www.vmware.com/content/dam/digitalmarketing/vmware/en/pdf/vcat/vmware-vcloud-api-extension-whitepaper.pdf but with a vRealize Orchestrator Implementation

    My example handle a request originated by the AMQP broker but i don't figure how to correctly responds back to vCD.

    Here is the Javascript of the code i used in the workflow:

    var props = subscription.retrieveLastOnMessageTrigger();

    var messageBody = props.body;

    var headers = props.headers;

    var properties = props.properties;

    var reply_to = props.properties.reply_to;

    var replyToExchange = props.headers.replyToExchange;

    var correlation_id = props.properties.correlation_id;

    var replyToRoutingKey = props.properties.replyToRoutingKey;

    var id = JSON.parse(props.body)[0].id;

    var user = JSON.parse(props.body)[1].user;

    var org = JSON.parse(props.body)[1].org;

    System.log("id : " + id);

    System.log("user : " + user);

    System.log("replyToRoutingKey : " + replyToRoutingKey);

    System.log("correlation_id : " + correlation_id);

    System.log("replyToExchange : " + replyToExchange);

    System.log("reply_to : " + reply_to);

    System.log("headers : "+headers.keys)

    System.log("properties : "+properties.keys)

    System.log("messageBody : "+messageBody)

    System.log("#################");

    var respHeaders = {"Content-Type":"application/vnd.vmware.vcloud.org+xml;version=30.0"};

    var msg = new AMQPMessage();

    var prop = new Properties();

    prop.put("correlation_id", correlation_id);

    msg.properties = prop;

    var body = [{"id":id, "headers":{"Content-Type":"application/vnd.vmware.vcloud.org+xml;version=30.0"}, "request":false, "statusCode":200}];

    msg.bodyAsText = JSON.stringify(body);

    System.log("msg : " + msg);

    broker.send(replyToExchange, replyToRoutingKey, msg);

    broker.send(replyToExchange, "testResponse", msg);

    Has someone deal with this kind of implementation (API extensibility) with vRO ? Some hint about the correct Javascript syntax ?

    Thanks

    Damien ALBERT

    Hi

    I wish to deploy 2 Microsoft File servers (VMs) that share the same storage.

    • The reason is to provide resilience and high availability.
      • Resilience in that if one of the file servers fails, the other will be able to read/write to the storage.
      • High availability so that we can take one of the servers out of production to apply windows updates and any other maintenance procedures.

    HA/Resilience of the data storage itself will be handled by another DR solution.

    We also want the solution to be relatively simple.

    The simplest solution I can see is to deploy a failover cluster in Windows.

    And to do this is to "Cluster Virtual Machines on One Physical Host".

    The instructions for VMware are fairly clear, but I have questions which I can't find the answer to.

    Any advice or answers people might have will be much appreciated.

    1. When setting up the Failover Cluster in Windows, where is the "private" network used?

    2. I believe the same vmdk is attached to both VMs.

    • When setting up the Failover Cluster in Windows, does it recognise the drive on both VMs (vmdk) as the same disk in Failover Cluster Manager?

    3. Can you read/write to the disk at the same time on both file servers? (I can see that the disk is set to multi-write).

    • I'm not suggesting that we need to, I wondered if this was a limitation.

    4. For the "Cluster-in-a-box" solution, vmotion is not supported/possible.

    • What happens if the host that the VMs are on goes down, will the VMs be brought up on another host?
      • I'm not sure if this comes under vmotion or not.
      • I believe that they are brought up on another host as the guide states "Limit the number of hosts to two when you define host DRS group rules for a cluster of virtual machines on one physical host".

    5. Is it not possible to snapshot the shared disk as it is "Independent-Persistent"?

    I'm hoping that somebody has already setup this environment and will be able to guide me.

    I will be setting up the environment in our testing environment but I don't want to re-invent the wheel twice!

    Thanks

    John

    Hi,

    I'm setting up vCloud Extender in our lab in order to familiarize with it before setting it up in production, and I'm really banging my head against the wall with some strange issues with the Replication Manager.

    These are the below versions:

    vCD: 9.5.0.10264774

    vCD Extender: 1.1.0.2 (cx-cloud-service)

    Deploying the vCD Extender appliance goes fine, and while running the setup wizard the first failure occurs on step 7 - Activate Replicator. However, it seems like the issue lies within the Replication Manager appliance.

    This is what I can see from the replication manager log files (/opt/vmware/h5/manager/log/manager.log):

    どなたかご存知でしたら教えてください。

    また、初歩的な質問で大変申し訳ございません。

    vRAをデプロイしたのですが、クライアントからvRAサーバへhttpsアクセスができません。

    同一の環境にある他の仮想マシンからはhttpsアクセスできます。(Iaas サーバー、APサーバー等)

    クライアントからvCenterServerへのhttpsアクセスはできます。

    クライアントからvRAのみhttpsアクセスがでいないのです。考えられる原因等

    I have a windows 10 template, installed the Guest Agent and have a cert.pem.  The guest agent service is running and all the logs look fine, comparing it to another working template and it looks similar.

    When I request this Windows 10 template from vRA, the allocation succeeds but the provisioning was taking a while. I went to the vCenter and could see the new windows 10 machine. When opening the console I notices an 'Install Windows' box, with "Windows could not finish configuring the system. To attempt to resume configuration, restart the computer".

    On vRA, when the machine eventually fails, it says Timeout Customizing Machine

    Am I missing something, why would this be happening?

    Any help greatly appreciated, Thanks

  • 12/23/18--03:27: NSX performance issues
  • Hi all, I have an NSX home lab running. Here a basic overview of the setup:

    My PC is on the 192.168.1.x/24 network. UniFi USG as the gateway

    ESXi Hosts, vCSA, NSX Manager, NSX Control cluster are on the 10.0.0.0/24 network, tagged VLAN 2, on a 10Gbit switch. Also on this network (and switch) is a QNAP NAS. Again, using the UniFi USG as the gateway.

    I don't think it matters but I am running vSAN and they are using a directly connected network for vSAN and vMotion. Witness traffic is tagged on the 10.0.0.0/24 VMk where the witness appliance resides.

    I have two logical networks, 5001 and 5002, 172.16.0.0/24 and 172.16.10.0/24 respectively.

    I have one Edge gateway. This has an interface for 5001 and 5002. It also has an interface on the VLAN 2 port group for external traffic.

    The VMs on the 5001 and 5002 networks use the edge as their gateway. The edge uses the UniFi USG as it's gateway.

    I then have a static route on the UniFi USG which directs 5001 and 5002 traffic to the interface on the VLAN 2 port group of the Edge.

    Not the most complex of setups I don't think. I wasn't sure if I needed an Edge for each logical network but it's working fine with just the single one.

    Running iPerf tests from host to host I get the expected 10Gbps speed.

    Running iPerf tests from the host to the QNAP NAS I get 10Gbps.

    Running it from my PC to a VM on a logical network I get 1Gbps (PC is only 1Gbit, as is the UniFi USG).

    The issue that I am having is RDP performance from my PC to a VM is poor, it's like it's on 10 frames a second. It does this if the VM is in the VLAN 2 port group of if it's connected to either logical switch.

    I'm guessing here that it's the UniFi USG causing the issues? I do have a pfSense appliance I could try I guess.

    The second issue I am having is if I do an iPerf test between VMs, either on the same logical network or seperate networks, traffic appears limited, peaking around 5Gbps but around 2-3 average.

    This leads me to believe that the issue is in the edge configuration somehow, or is this normal behaviour? I'd have thought I would see the full 10Gbps.

    Thanks!

    Hello

    I have 3 hosts Vsphere 6.7 and a Vcenter in 6.7 after the update from 6.5 to 6.7.

    I can no longer start a Vm without the following message appears  "Le nombre total de CPU virtuelles présentes ou demandées dans la configuration des machines virtuelles a dépassé la limite de l'hôte : 21. "

    I can start the machine directly when I'm on the A machine or is stored the VM but not from the Vcenter, would you have a lead?

    best regards.

  • 01/08/19--07:34: LAG Benefits over IP Hash
  • Our hosts have 2x10GbE uplinks port-channeled on our Cisco switches, and use Route based on IP hash for LB. What (if any) is the benefit to configuring LACP on the vDS for the uplinks over this method?

    Hello!!  I'm hoping someone can assist me with a PowerCLI script that can pull the subject info into a txt or csv file.  In an effort to get our environment cleaned up before our next DR exercise with SRM, I want to get a list that shows each VM, the datastore(s) it resides on, and the Folder name within VMs and Templates view.  We keep our VMs organized by creating folder names that correspond to the app running on the VM.  I mention SRM because last year our Protected Groups matched the Rcopy groups from our 3PAR array.  However, we've added over 200 new VMs since that time and my team members basically placed these new VMs on the first available datastore that had enough free space.  Unfortunately, we're not utilizing Storage Profiles...it's scheduled for next year.

    The extracted info would look similiar to the following:

    Servername    Datastore   Folder Name

    Server1            LUN0           ActiveDirectory

    Server2            LUN0           ActiveDirectory

    Server3            LUN1           ActiveDirectory

    Server4            LUN3           Argo

    Server5            LUN7           Argo

    Server6            LUN6           Lockbox

    Server7            LUN5           Lockbox

    Server8            LUN9           Citrix

    etc...

    Any help with extracting this info from vCenter would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Charles

    I have Horizon 7 environment that requires some automation. I am using powercli and vmware.hv.helper

    $p = Get-HVPool -poolname '<poolname>'

    this is the setting needing to change:

    $p.DesktopSettings.LogoffSettings.PowerPolicy

    to either of these values:

    ALWAYS_POWERED_ON

    POWER_OFF

    TAKE_NO_POWER_ACTION

    but when I try to use the set-HVPool, I am getting error:

    with this command:

    Set-HVPool -PoolName $p.base.name -Key 'DesktopSettings.LogoffSettings.PowerPolicy' -Value 'TAKE_NO_POWER_ACTION'

    the error is:

    Exception calling "Desktop_Update" with "3" argument(s): "ExceptionType : VMware.Hv.InvalidArgument

    ErrorMessage : Invalid member name.

    ParameterName : DesktopSettings.LogoffSettings.PowerPolicy"

    and with this command

    Set-HVPool -PoolName $p.base.name -Key $p.DesktopSettings.LogoffSettings.PowerPolicy -Value 'TAKE_NO_POWER_ACTION'

    the error is:
