vRA 7.3.1 Upgrade to vRA 7.4.0 using vRLCM 2.0

0
0

I am trying to upgrade vRA 7.3.1 to vRA 7.4.0 using vRLCM 2.0.

I have imported my environment to vRLCM successfully.  But during precheck for upgrade it is throwing below error for only my Primary Appliance. Rest everything is passed.

Just for note my vRA environment is 3 Node Cluster with 3 vRA Appliances.

vmware-vmx crash if OpenGL 3.3 graphics acceleration is enabled with Fusion 11.0.2

I have Fusion 11.0.2 on a relatively new MacBook running macOS Mojave.   I have an Ubuntu 17.10 guest VM, where the VM is configured to use "Accelerated 3D Graphics", where it lists "Supports OpenGL 3.3".

Screen Shot 2019-01-03 at 6.59.10 PM.png

After the "Abstractile" screensaver runs for some time (usually less than a minute) the VM will crash.

Screen Shot 2019-01-03 at 6.31.29 PM.png

The vmware.log file is partially useful, in that it indicates it's an SVGA problem:

Dell HBA330 HCL - Health Check Driver Error

0
0

Hi All - I have a warning on my Health Check that references a Controller Driver compatibility error

I believe the error to be wrong as I am running the fully certified driver downloaded directly from the HCL link on VMware website, see below

I suspect that its just not updated on the Health Check yet. I am running the latest version of the HCL Database downloaded via vCenter

Does anyone know when this Heath Check Database might be updated as I hate seeing warning errors on my vSAN?

Some further info:

Dell HBA330

Dell R740xd - 6 nodes

ESXI 6.7 U1 with all patches applied.

I have confirmed the VID , DID , SVID , SSID are correct for my HBA

You will see it still recommends the older driver as the driver to use but obvious I would prefer to use the most recent HCL compliant driver.

Thanks,

Does Fusion 11/Pro recognise NTFS ?

Reading this article: VMware Knowledge Base

Excert

"Note: Windows does not recognize USB hard drives that are formatted in the HFS+ (Mac) file system. You have to use Disk Utility to format the hard drive in the FAT32 or ExFAT file system."

(however article does't list version 11 as :"Related")

It doesn't mention NTFS at all..

However, i encountered a simial problem on the weekend. A was plugging in USB drive which was NTFS formatted, Got a dialog from VMWare Fusion abut 'unable able to connect to controller, and device may function improperly .. ' Windows didn't get the chance.

Pulled it and formatted it on a physically machine as FAT32, plugged it back in to Mac, and connected it to VM fine and began copying

This is one one USB drive i tested, but wanted a more better answer....... Are NTFS drives compatible with Fusion at all ?  It defiantly not Windows, so that leaves/assumption VMWare Tool or Fusion itself... or perhaps USB drive, but once formatted as FAT32,it worked  fine in Fusion.

Dear Friends,

Can anyone please give any thoughts about below error. Is it occurring due to storage side issues or due to firmware related issues in ESXi. Appreciate your suggestion

To learn vmware from the beginning

This is a very robust website, and product for that matter. I have *some* experience with vmware but I want to know, if I was starting from day 1 with vmware, where should I start? What resource do I begin with, and build on from there? There are many directions to go with from what I see on this website I may want a certification in the future, but for now I want to set a solid foundation to grow from and build into real world solutions.

Thank you for the direction.

schedule Remove-snapshot

Hi, I'm New User for PowerCLI,I have a question for schedule Remove-snapshot:

for example:

I have been created a snapshot in PowerCLI for my vm:

$Date = Get-Date -UFormat %Y%m%d

$timechop = Get-Date -Format g

get-vm | where {$_.PowerState -eq "PoweredOn"} | where {$_.Name -match "Linux"} | New-Snapshot -Name "$Date" -Description "PowerCLI Weekly Snapshot at $timechop"

get-vm | where {$_.PowerState -eq "PoweredOn"} | where {$_.Name -match "Linux"} | Get-Snapshot

Name                 Description                    PowerState

----                 -----------                    ----------

20190104             PowerCLI Weekly Snapshot at... PoweredOn

Now the question:

I need to Schedule Remove the Snapshot Before 7 days ago (according the snapshot create day,for example:20190104,autoremove the named"20190104" when the current date is change to 20190111),how to write the scripts?

thanks a lot!

RDSH Application - Drive mapping Assistance

0

Hello,

We are in the process of evaluating RDSH Application pools in View 7.3.1.  We have been able to successfully publish application and launch them from both View Client and HTML.

What I am looking for assistance is on, when a user launches the application they currently only see the C drive of the server that is hosting the application.

1.  I would like to hide the C drive of the server hosting the RDSH application

2.  Users launching the RDSH applications are not getting assigned their network mapped drives.  We have multiple sites and utilize GPO applied at the site level to apply drive mappings based on the users home office.  Since our View environment is hosted at our HQ office, I would like to provide users with the same set of drive mappings they see for their home office when they login.  I was able to add my network drives to my Horizon Client but I was hoping to do something via GPO applied to the OU I have my RDSH servers sitting in.

Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

How to auto refresh vSphere Client page rather than click manually on global refresh button though plugin UI code ? 6.5

I am using the seed-plugin structure for UI and have chassis kind of example in my plugin If new chassis has been added through backend then at left navigation where the chassis list is available should be an auto-refresh for the latest list.

Rather than click on Global Refresh button manually want to update vSphere client through code. Please help me if any workaround is available.

Unable to Enter Login Credentials with Windows 10

Having a weird problem with the Remote Desktop Connection client and pretty much anything else that requires you to enter a username and password.  If I delete the users writable profile then everything works like normal and allows you to enter your credentials to connect.  The next time the users logs in and opens the RDP client or tries to "Run As" another user you are not able to enter any credentials.  I attached the screenshot.  I tried to exclude the MSTSC.exe process from the snapvol.cfg file but no luck.

Any other ideas?

NVMe disk/vmdk: Slower than iSCSI! Where is the claimed performance gain?

0
0

Hi guys,

I'm currently in my trail period of v14 before I pay for the upgrade from v12.5.

Most important feature is the performance gain of such a disk as by the VMware Workstation 14 Pro Release Notes

My first tests although are quite disappointing!

Preface

My host is Windows 7 x64 on a Dell Precision 7510 with 8 Core Xeon, 64GB RAM, two NVMe m.2 drives (Samsung 960 Pro & SM951).

I've installed the latest Samsung NVMe driver on the host and everything else is up to date as well.

All guests are up to date and all NVMe disks are shown correctly in the device manager (under the VMWare NVMe Controller).

All my test runs are done with a complete idle host and guest and are repeated a couple of times to ensure consistency.

My first test was done wit the VM on the "old" SM951 NVMe.

The VM/guest is a newly installed Windows Server 2016 with full VMWare tools installation.

I created 4 disks/vmdk with 60GB each:

171210 on old (comparison).png

The performance inside the guest isn't the same as on the host - not even close!

But whats more troubling is, that the SCSI-vmdk outperforms the new NVMe!!

I did another test with the VM/guest on the brand new 960Pro.

The VM is a Windows 7 with just one vmdk as a NVMe:

171210 on 960pro (comparison).png

Here the "loss" is even worse!

It even seems there there is a "cap" in the maximum performance on a NVMe-vmdk, doesn't matter how fast the physical NVMe is.

Does anyone have suggestions for reasons to this test results?

Can/Should I approach VMWare directly with this issue?

Thanks heaps!

Soko

Program install fails during provisioning

running VMware AppVolumes v2.14.

I have a vm of Windows 10 (v1809)  that is nice and clean, except I have the AppVol agent on it as this machine is used for provisioning.

There is an application (bartender 9.3) that I need to create an app stack for.

i start to the provisioning on the app vol machine, and on the Win10 machine, when the little appvol box pops up, I start the install for Bartender.

Install goes without issue.  It fails upon starting the program with a 'side-by-side' error.

yet if I revert to the clean snapshot (appvol agent is still installed but I did not start provisoning) teh program installs and runs just fine.

Any ideas?

Hi All,  Happy New year!

We are planning to migrate all the Citrix Xen VM to Vmware VM due to license issues(we are not planning to buy Xenserver License).

what are the steps need to be followed?

so far i have understood as below.

1. Install vCenter standard converter on source VM(Xen  VM).

2. use V2V migration, and update the destination.

3. Power on the Destination VM once it is completed.

is there anything else i have to follow?

We have many servers includes Linux VMs, what is the best options to perform the same?

Failed to login with custom upn of trusted domain

Hi there!

I have a connection server in DOMA.

There are users in a trusted domain DOMB (one-way, outgoing, non transistive).

I started the Horizon Client and establish a connection to a desktop pool.

If I login with user default UPN like   Testuser@domB.com   the authenticcation works fine.

Then I changed the account to use the custom UPN "@domB.us"

If I try to login with custom user upn like   Testuser@domB.us   the authentication fails.

Does anyone know why it fails or if it is possible to configure the custom upn to be recognized by Horizon?

Ulli

I haven't migrated anything, just started fresh. How do I resolve this? I'm planning on installing Skyline for my customers, but I don't want it to work this badly for them.

Anders

Aumentare vdisk in presenza di snapshot: è possibile ora?

buongiorno,

Grazie a tutti
