List users from Group using PowerCLI
Hi,
how can I retrieve users from SSO-Domain (VIAccount -User) assigned to SSO-Domain group (VIAccount -Group)?
I can list users and groups from SSO-Domain but I cannot find mapping between them.
For example: How can I list users assigned to group "VSPHERE.LOCAL\Administrators"

VM Console only loads for administrator permission?
I'm trying to create more limited permissions in our vcenter environment, but every role I assign my users to, none of them have console permissions and receive the below:
A server error occurred.
Unable to connect to MKS: Permission to perform this operation was denied.
Check the vSphere Client server logs for details.
My role is as follows:
The only role that works is administrator.
vsphere_client_virgo.log is not showing me much, beside me getting a lot of the following:

Mise à niveau esxi 6.0.0 vers 6.7 U1
Bonjour à tous, j'ouvre un sujet de discutions car je ne pense pas être le seul dans ce cas à l'avenir.
Je suis avec 2 serveurs HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 avec esxi 6.0.0 Update 2 (Build 4600944) installé. Je souhaite passer sur la version 6.7 pour le support Windows serveur 2019.
J'ai téléchargé l'image custom HP pour obtenir un iso avec drivers intégrés (VMware-ESXi-6.7.0-Update1-10302608-HPE-Gen9plus-670.U1.10.3.5.12-Oct2018).
Mais lors de la tentative de MAJ avec une clé usb bootable un message me prévient qu'il n'est pas possible de garder les données
D’où vient le problème ?

[HELP] - Adding SAN connection to cluster
Hi guys,
I just received my new components for the cluster and I'm in the middle of configuring the whole thing...
I have a problme though I can't really find a good guide on how to connect my SAN to the vcenter cluster...
My hosts are DL380p G8s with emulex 10gbps cards on a qlogic 574810 chpset
My SAN is a HPE StoreVirtual 4530 also with the same card and everything is going through a 10gbps switch from dell (powerconnect 8204f)
I managed to create the volume via HPEs CMC (Centralized Management Console) and set the IP for the bonded connection of the 2 10gbps ports...
I tried to connect to it from just esxi and I can add it as a software iSCSI which doesn't really sound correct but also I don't see the datastore being available for selection...
I cannotadd it as a static target either for some reason... if I do "configure iSCSI" instead of "software iSCSI" it keeps posting errors about unbound ports etc... I'm not really sure how to get out of it...
Can somebody help me?

Eesxicli cd can't cd to /vmfs/volumes/datastore1
Hello
I have a single ESXi 5.5 server that needs a security patch. I have uploaded the patch onto the local datastore and want to install it via CLI. I have followed VMware's instructions on this but I get stuck at check the directory. cd can't cd to /vmfs/volumes/datastore1
I can get to /vmfs/volumes but not any further down the directory, I was thinking it might be a permissions issue? I'm not a Linux expert tbh.
I would use VUM but we have been having issues so I just need it quickly updated via the CLI, any help would be appreciated.

Sharing VMDK in ESXi 6.7

I am trying to share one VMDK with 2 VMs using the following article.

The VMDK is added to both VMs and the Windows operating system can see the disk, but both VMs cannot see the same data. Each VM can only see what it has written to the disk.
The above article mentions using LSI Logic SAS, but I would like to use Paravirtual and can see the option for SCSI bus sharing - Virtual.
Can anyone assist in resolving this?

How to retrieve group membership from PowerCLI?
It seems like a pretty simple thing to look for, I just want an export saying Group A has these members, Group B has these members, etc.
I haven't been able to figure it out, but I am just starting out with PowerCLI.
I can get a list of all users or all groups easily enough with Get-VIAccount, but I don't know how to view the relationship between them.
(edit) Just to clarify, this is without using any AD or LDAP. The local account database for Vcenter.

21TB Dell DAS datastore shows in vCenter, NO SHOW when adding hard drive to VM
We have esxi 6.0 on one vmhost,
vCenter 6.5
Datastore = one local drive 3tb
dell_das_datastore = 21TB
Both show up on the VMhost as Datastore's
When adding a hard drive to any existing VM we see the "Datastore (3tb)" but do not see the "dell_das_datastore = 21TB"

VMware Fusion - incorrect MAC address bridge mode - dhcp broken

This is a bug with Vmware version 10 - 11.0.2 still not fixed. MacOS latest on new gen macbook with USB-C.
Currently you have to set a static IP on the Virtual Machine if you want to connect.
DHCP DISCOVER packet egresses Fusion with MAC of HOST machine instead of Virtual Machine NIC.

VMware web ready for prime time ?
Just testing out VMWare Sphere and ESXI 6 logging in on the web, and aside from the issues with lack of mouse in console, providing you can finish and install VMWare Tools after install, it seems ok..
I've battles with Windows 2000 Server and i don't expect Windows XP will any easier
So this bring me to question. ? Aside for networking, basically plug and play in web browser, is VSphere Web ready for public release over standalone client? Aside from being in a web browser, and networking made easier in VM,.. from the fact of users wanting to get along with it in a production environment and "just work", I would gladly say stick with standalone client.. As the Web based version is just not the trouble its worth, unless you absolutely need it..
Anyone agree ? Thoughts ? Seen posts around mention USB controller -- adding to VM hardware would fix up mouse, which it doesn't for me..
But luckily keyboard still works so long as i can Alt and TAB between OS install screens.
First impressions = Good for convenience and networking, but that's about it really... Although i havan't tried other OS's, based on the trouble i've had so far, i don't think i'd want to..

why can't I change port group?
I have ESXi 6.5, no vCenter. I created like 5 port groups. I was having trouble getting network connectivity with the one that I attached a VM vNIC to; so, I tried to change the port group to test another one, but the drop down only has one port group available. What's going on there?
I have 3 vSwitches. Two are each teamed to two uplink ports and the third has only one uplink port. There are one or more port groups connected to each vSwitch.
I created a new port group to test and then I could change to that port group. So, why are the others not showing up in the VM edit drop down?

Disappearing printers
Hello:
I am curious if others are having this issue. I am not entirely sure but I suspect it's an issue with Writable Volumes, because deleting and re-creating the Writable for affected users is fixing the issue.
Users connect in from clients running Windows 10 LTSB, running the Horizon Client 4.9 software. Recently after we upgraded to AppVol 2.14.2, users are calling in regarding one or both of the locally installed printers on the clients are disappearing in the VM. The printers in the VM are passed through by ThinPrint from the client. I have not been able to pinpoint the issue but I think it might be AppVol doing something with the printers.
Is there anything I can check or look at, to try and pinpoint this? I've started to look through AppVol logs. I have seen past activity with AppVol and printers and wondering if the 2.14 version does something different as we had not had this problem until now.

Get Active FC Path WWN of all datastores
Hello. I need to turn off one of the FC switch for maintenance. To turn off the switch smoothly, I want to set the manual path selection mode and switch all datastores to the second switch. I have a lot of datastores, so I wanted to create a csv file in which I could see invofrmation to be sure that I did not miss anything: For example:

I dont know how to comapre HBAName like "vmhba1:C0:T4:L1" with Identifier of Datastore and convert this to Datastore Name in one csv file.

Can anyone tell me if the E5-2630Lv3 processor is compatible with ESXi Host 6.7? I see in the compatibility list that the E5-2600 v3 and v4 is, but my question deals with the E5-2630L part. Does the compatibility list mean anything in the 2600 series?

Worskstation VM disk Type 2 - Need to convert to Disk Type 6 for ESXi
I have a test VM given to me with a single .vmdk and provisioned as "Thick provisioned, lazily zeroed".
I can open it in Workstation but I need it to run in ESXi but it fails with the below error....
Unsupported or invalid disk type 2 for 'nvme0:0'. Ensure that the disk has been imported.
ESXi host is 6.7 so the nvme controller is supported. Just the disk type needs to be thin provisioned disk type 6.
I tried the vmware-vdiskmanager.exe using the examples given and ran the below command....
"C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation\vmware-vdiskmanager.exe" -r C:\temp\sourcedisk.vmdk -t 6 C:\Temp\newdisk.vmdk
But it gives me the error...
"VMware Virtual Disk Manager can only convert to ESX thin disks if the destination is remote."
So then I try with the -h switch like I found in google searches/examples...
"C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation\vmware-vdiskmanager.exe" -r C:\temp\sourcedisk.vmdk -t 6 C:\Temp\newdisk.vmdk -h 192.168.x.x -u root -p doofushead
But get the error below.....
C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation\vmware-vdiskmanager.exe: unrecognized option 'h'
Can someone shed some light into this?
How can I get the VM's disk converted to a supported disk for an esxi server?

Keyboard and Mouse not working in VMWare Fusion guests
I installed Mac OS X Mojave Beta 5, and now when I start a VMWare Fusion guest (Windows 10) my keyboard and mouse are not working in the guest. When I was using OS X Mojave Beta 4, they worked fine. Any thoughts on a solution to get my keyboard and mouse to start working again?

Reproducible FireFox 60.0.2 Crash after working 1-3 times per session

we discovered an error in a customer environment which is reproducable in our LAB which is completely fresh installed.
We use a clean Windows7 x64 VM, fully patched with Horizon View 7.4 Agent and AppVolumes 2.14.
Single Appstack, only Firefox 60.0.2 64bit German Version.
Clean User Profile, no Profile Management solution for testing
Starting Firefox works fine - open, browse, close.
Open again/browse/close works fine for several times. But if you open some tabs, stop using firefox for some minutes and close it, it won't open again.
Firefox is on the newest Version, so no update in the background.
-Safe-mode :not working
-deleting FireFox Profile :not working
-same behavior with View Agent 7.3.2, AppVolumes Agent 2.13.3, old AppVolumes Template.
-Copying the FireFox program directory to c:\temp and start FireFox from there works fine
Any Idea how to find out whats going on here ?
Is there a possibility to debug the AppVolumes driver ?
