    Hello,

I'd like to use mapped network printers via UEM environment, as well as allowing the users to add persistant printers themself.

I use the Printer Common Setting template and the mapped printers are saved in to the profile archive.

Problem is that the unmap command of the printers is run after the pinter settings are exported, so the user will have the once mapped printers attached to his new session, even if I remove him from the printer-group as the mapping is stored in his profile.

Any ideas how to remove the UEM-mapped printers from the printer-profile?

    Thanks

    Current Hardware

2 of the following server, 1 Production, 1 Backup (w/ VEEAM Solution)

    HP PROLIANT DL380 G7

Processor  Intel Xeon Dual 6 Core X5690 3.5ghz

    RAM   64GB

Native Controller: HP Smart Array P410i

Add on RAID Controller: Areca  ARC-1882

vCenter 5.0 as Hypervisor Manager with

    15 VMs currently employed

Got clearance to acquire  a new production server and employ ESXi 6.5. I wanted to first to upgrade our current version of ESXi with the most recent one that would not incur additional changes. Will likely go the latest generation of DL380. Another question I had was whether I could maintain the same backup server without upgrading to the latest ESXi and still use VEEAM as the Backup/ Replication solution..

Soooo, anyways the Subject list is actually the main question!   Along with advice on the best path to do so.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

    Dwayne

    Question :

"For NSX-T deployments, you create an external network that connects to your tier-0 router." I would suggest: "For NSX-T deployments, you create an external network for future Tenant Logical Routers (Tier-1) Floating-IP." And I would give a picture like in the "New Testament" (ask ddesmidt@vmware.com about the "New Testament" if you don't know it)

    Bonsoir,

Je ne peux pas me connecter via l'interface web ou en ssh à mon ESXi après ne plus être connecté au bout d'un certains temps 30mn je dirais. Par contre je peux me connecter en direct. y a t'il une manipulation quelconque ?

    Merci d'avance.

Last night I updated the first of three servers, and I planned to do the rest today. For now, I have stopped the process. The server upgraded fine without issues from 6.5 to 6.7 but after I did my first migration of a VM I got an error (Network connectivity lost). The alert email I get is as follows.

[VMware vCenter - Alarm alarm.NetworkConnectivityLostAlarm] Network connectivity restored on virtual switch "vSwitch3", portgroups: "GUEST-OS". Physical NIC vmnic2 is up.

    Target: 192.168.2.51

    Previous Status: Green

    New Status: Red

    Alarm Definition:

([Event alarm expression: Lost Network Connectivity; Status = Red] OR [Event alarm expression: Restored network connectivity to portgroups; Status = Red] OR [Event alarm expression: Lost Network Connectivity to DVPorts; Status = Red] OR [Event alarm expression: Restored Network Connectivity to DVPorts; Status = Red])

    Event details:

Network connectivity restored on virtual switch "vSwitch3", portgroups: "GUEST-OS". Physical NIC vmnic2 is up.

vmnic2, vmnic3, and vmnic4 are part of my vSwitch3 group.  I can reset the error back to green and it won't come back until I do another migrate or last night when Veeam was backing up, Snapshots also seem to trigger this error.. I am not losing connectivity as the VM is running just fine. I put in a support request last night and haven’t heard back from VMWare yet, and I am at a loss. I am leaving the other two servers still on 6.5. Anyone have any thoughts? I am really lost here. Everything was fine until I went to 6.7.

    Jon

    Hello,

I am trying to find a way to deploy each instance on a multiple instance deployment sequentially. What I have noticed is when I choose more than one instance on a request, each instance is processed at the same time. So, if I choose 12 instances and the blueprint is using a clone workflow, then 12 clones will fire off at once from the same template. This can hammer the datastore. I would like to find away to make each instance deploy one at a time. I have not been able to find a custom property for this.

So far my workaround has been to drag multiple machines onto the blueprint canvas and then make them dependent on each other. This forces the machines to deploy one at a time. However, dragging 12 machines onto a blueprint and then editing the custom properties on each one is very tedious and time consuming. There is no way to copy and paste a machine with all it's properties on the canvas. It would be much easier to have one machine on the blueprint, but deploy multiple instances.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Darren

We have a customer still using ESXi 5.5. Plans are in place to upgrade in the future, but this is several months away. The customer has 2 hosts running on identical Lenovo hardware. I don't have the exact specs in front of me at the moment, but the hosts are adequately resourced. It appears there are network performance issues with one of the hosts. These came to light when attempting to implement a new backup solution that utilizes the management interfaces to perform backups. Backup performance on one of the hosts is fine, but poor on the other. I want to do some testing to try to find out the cause of this. I came across an unsupported way to use iPerf to test performance on ESXi 5.5 (iPerf is included with ESXi 6.0 and above). Short of using iPerf, are there any built-in utilities in ESXi 5.5 to test performance between a host and another device?

    Hi All,

We use HP BL460 blades running ESXi 6.5 using the HP Image. We noticed that from vcenter, all the serial numbers displayed under the Monitor > Hardware Status tab is that of the Enclosure rather than that of the Blade. Connecting directly to the  Web interface of ESXi host and shows the same result. Even RVTools shows the Serial number of the Enclosure and not the Blade.

Using powerCLI and running $esxcli.hardware.platform.get.Invoke()  on the ESXi host will show the correct Serial Number of the blade....

    Is this a bug?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

I'm trying to allow for the individual storage clusters in a reservation to be chosen during catalog request, for example have a drop down where the requester can choose either tier1 or tier2.

I've done similar things with network and IPAM where I create a custom property definition and map it to the built in property.

I've tried these two properties but either recieve errors or the default algorithm takes over and places the VMs disks on the wrong storage.

    VirtualMachine.Storage.Cluster.Name

    VirtualMachine.Storage.Name

Does anyone have any experience with allowing the selection of a storage tier from a catalog request form either with a custom property definition or storage reservation?

    Hello all,

I am looking for a solution to Wake on Lan both my Windows host and Ubuntu VM. I am running an ubuntu server on my windows machine and don't want to keep my windows machine running at all times. Is there a way to remotely power on both the windows machine and Ubuntu VM together?

    Thanks!

    This Microsoft article is outdated:

How to Install Hyper-V on vmware Workstation 10 ? - TechNet Articles - United States (English) - TechNet Wiki

Can we get a fresh Knowledgebase article for Workstation 15 here at VMware?

Is it still necessary to manually update the VMX configuration file? Or is it sufficient to set the new virtualization options in VM Settings?
