We have recently setup an App Volumes 2.7 Server/environment utilizing AppStacks ONLY (NO Writable Volumes).  The AppStacks are working fine on Linked Clone Virtual Desktops.

We normally deploy our network printers via Group Policy using pushprinterconnections.exe (part of Windows 2008 R2).  This has worked fine for years until we installed the App Volumes Agent on the Virtual Desktops.  Now, the Network Printers will not install on the Virtual Desktops.  The only errors we see are in Event Viewer (Applications and Services Logs/Microsoft/Windows/Print Services/Admin).  The below are the errors we see:

Error 601:  Client Side Rendering

The print spooler failed to download and import the printer driver from \\SERVERNAME into the driver store for driver HP Laserjet xxxx

Error 215:  Installing a Print Driver

Installing printer driver HP Laserjet xxxx failed, error code 0x3, HRESULT 0x80070057

We also cannot manually install printers with the App Volumes Agent installed once we have received the above errors...we get the message "Printer cannot be found". 

NOTE:  We are using the same exact Master Image to create Windows 7 (SP1) Linked Clone Virtual Desktops.  This image has 2 Snapshots...one without App Volumes Agent and one with App Volumes Agent.  This is the only difference between the two snapshots.  Linked clones created without the App Volumes Agent can install/receive Group Policy Network Printers without any issues.  Linked clones created with the App Volumes Agent installed fail to install the Network Printers.

When I try to install VMWare Horizon Client in OS  Window 7 32bits, always the WMware Horizon Client Setup Wizard ended  prematurely, I have tried two versions of VMwaer Horizon Client:

1. VMware-Horizon-View-Client-x86-3.5.2-3150477.exe

1. VMware-Horizon-Client-x86-4.1.0-3977225.exe

Please could you help me to install VMware Horizon Client?.

I started using the "Management Pack for Storage Devices" (v6.0.5) in vROPS v6.2

Since then, my two Nodes that are only consuming storage from the nodes that do have disks, keep popping up with this error "VirtualSAN Host has misconfigured storage".

The cause according to vROPS is "vmhba32 has symptom: No Diskgroups connected to the host adapter".

Really? You don't say...

vmhba32 is the onboard SATA controller. The nodes boot of a USB Stick.

Anyway, can someone from the VSAN team tell the vROPS folks that such a thing as a non-contributing node exists

I'm in the middle of upgrading vdp from 6.0 to 6.1 (mainly due to the high cpu java bug that's fixed in 6.1)

I've deployed the ova and am currently stuck trying to migrate my old appliance to the new one.

When entering the old vdp ip and root password it errors saying "authentication failed, make sure vdp credentials are valid"

I've tried using both ip and FQDN, I've restarted both vdp's.

I've changed the password on my old vdp multiple times and still no luck.

I 100% know its the right password as I've logged into it multiple times (also I have to log in to change the password!)

I've search the web and the only solution was to change password to use all lower case, which ive tried and hasn't worked.

Any ideas?

What happens if install it on CPU with more core( 10, 12)?

There are any problem? Only 8 cores are utilizes? Or it doesn't work?

I am getting the following warning in both vcenter servers that are connected via linked mode.  They are 2012 R2 servers running vcenter 5.5 U2.

This is the replication status for the following directory partition on this directory server. Directory partition: DC=virtualcenter,DC=vmware,DC=int This directory server has not recently received replication information from a number of directory servers. The count of directory servers is shown, divided into the following intervals. More than 24 hours: 1 More than a week: 1 More than one month: 1 More than two months: 1 More than a tombstone lifetime: 1 Tombstone lifetime (days): 180 Directory servers that do not replicate in a timely manner may encounter errors. They may miss password changes and be unable to authenticate. A DC that has not replicated in a tombstone lifetime may have missed the deletion of some objects, and may be automatically blocked from future replication until it is reconciled. To identify the directory servers by name, use the dcdiag.exe tool. You can also use the support tool repadmin.exe to display the replication latencies of the directory servers. The command is "repadmin /showvector /latency ".

Can anyone provide feedback as to why I am getting this?  There's not alot of documentation and what is out there pertains to VMware View, not Linked Mode.  I was able to find this which seems to pertain, but it talks about seizing roles...maybe I am misunderstanding what happens within Linked Mode and the ADAM database, but neither of these vcenter servers are domain controllers and I certainly don't want to seize a role from a DC...

How I can recover this files and VMs?

I am migrating my vcops 5.8.5 to vrops 6.0.3.  I did this without issue in my other environment, but run into an error when I run through the initial config.

I choose to import the data,

I input the old ui (tried both IP and FQDN)

I input the admin password

When it tries to install the migration agent on the 5.8.5 box I get the following error:

"Agent not started: message = Unable to start agent"

I am definitely using the right admin pw, I verified I can log into the old env with this pw.

Anyone have any clue?  I tried to search for this error and cannot find anything on it.

I'm currently working on create a 3rd party ticket when there is any error occurs during the provisioning process, which the main part is "How to trigger something when error occurs".

I have tried to subscription - machine provisioning, set condition to 'any event', but the workflow is not been triggered when some thing like 'no reservation available" error occurs. Is there anything custom properties required to enable some feature?

I found the document Configuring the Error Behavior for States and Events , but it's not clear how to use it. Anyone have example?

I can't seem to get my head around this, and maybe I'm missing something very obvious.  I am tagging all VMs with a costcenter of which there are dozens of per vcenter.  However the tag category for all of them is called 'showback'.  I want to use powercli to give me all VMs with a tag category of showback, so I can see which VMs are tagged and which aren't.  Any way to do this?

and i can ping but i cant connect it via web browser, i thought some services dosent start but i am not sure how can i check it ?

which tool is more usefull ? Putty or PowerCLI ?

I am looking for a script to to help me clean up datastores from left over files.  After vmotion sometimes the datastore leaves behind folders with only files with the exts, .hlog .nvram -aux.xml and .vmxf files.  I would like to see if it is possible to make a script to help round up and delete these.

Buongiorno a tutti, premetto che sto iniziando ora ad utilizzare Hypervisor vmware e vorrei avere delle delucidazioni in merito alla configurazione della parte network.

Prima però faccio una paranoramica di cosa ho e cosa vorrei ottenere.

Ho un Server HP con due NIC , una per Management Network e l'altra la vorrei utilizzare per la VM che ho creato.

Vorrei configurare il tutto su due reti separate entrambi con proprio router per la navigazione e indirizzi diversi.

Ho provato, oltre allo vswitch0, a creare un secondo vswitch aggiunggendo ad esso la seconda scheda di rete.

Risultato e che la VM viene regolarmente vista sulla rete ma non rischo a farla navirare su internet.

Probabilmente sto sbagliando qualche cosa o mi mancano proprio delle nozione in tal senso.

Potreste gentilmente darmi una mano????
